Abby Martin reported yesterday on "Breaking the Set" that the American military is considering deployment of IARs (Independent Autonomous Robots) which would have the specific capacity for executing terminate decisions. I don't know if the story is true and I don't know if such devices even exist but I was thinking about it at three in the morning and a short story resulted.
The story is fairly long for a, um, short story so I have added it as a page to the blog rather than putting it inline. You can read it by clicking Badger Drones at the top of the blog. While it has some resemblance to "The Wind in the Willows" and it has badgers and rabbits in it, this is not at all a story for children. The topic is the culling of badgers and using drones to do it. What could go wrong.
This one is specifically for Cat.
