Where is Maria's Mother

Maria is a little blonde girl who was taken from a Roma couple in Greece.  There is no evidence of any crime except that Maria doesn't look like her adoptive parents.  The police are pleased at serving justice but it's not clear what justice they are serving as there is no sign of Maria's birth parents.

The Roma people are often called Gypsies and they usually live outside the cultures of whatever country in which they live.  As a people, they're accused of being highly-criminal but I have nothing to validate that one way or the other.  The Roma people charge they are being marginalised by wherever they are in what amounts to another example of xenophobia.

One thing I do know about Roma people is that they have an ancient culture which has a quite beautiful and unique music.  They are also very much in touch with the land as who else do you know who will add 'sunshine' to honey by putting violets in it.  They can walk out into any field and find chives, dandelion leaves, and the like for salad.  Harry, my friend in Greece, was quite good at this also as he often walked through his property to collect ingredients for salads.

The reason I write is the reaction of a BBC interviewer in asking about Maria and he seemed shocked at the idea that Maria should be given back to her adoptive parents.  There has been no formal process to complete the adoption but there has also been no word from Maria's birth parents.  No evidence of a crime has been discovered so why would they not give Maria back to them.
