First There Was Cha Cha Muldowney and Now Alexis DeJoria

Cha Cha Muldowney was a national champion in Funny Cars in the 70s and 80s and Alexis DeJoria has been a Funny Car champion in recent years.  Ms DeJoria caught my attention because of the astounding speeds she has been pulling at the drag strip.

The DeJoria was the first female driver to break the 4-second barrier in a Funny Car and has five event wins in her career.

Four seconds??  Are you fucking serious??  That's over three hundred mph.  (WIKI:  Alexis DeJoria)

Fox News:  NHRA driver Alexis DeJoria announces retirement

The Rockhouse is most pleased to see she is retiring from racing before smashing herself all to hell.  At 300 mph, the tiniest mistake will turn her into lunchmeat so good on you, Ms DeJoria; it was an excellent run.

Here's Cha Cha Muldowney back in her day:

Amazingly, she survived it all and she's signing Shirley Muldowney to her autographs to this day.  (WIKI:  Shirley Muldowney)

Ms Muldowney didn't have a gilded upbringing and all she wanted to do was drive fast.  She knew she was headed for trouble but through luck or fortuity she ran into a man who was an excellent mechanic and he could help her drive supremely fast.  With Ms Muldowney as the driver and Jack Muldowney as the mechanic, they were suddenly (drum roll) bound for glory.
