Aldous Huxley on Technodictators (video)

It's precisely the idea of 'people loving their slavery' which is so dangerous now since people have succumbed widely to various somatic salves but there's little to widen the awareness of anything.

"If you want to preserve your power indefinitely, you have to get the consent of the ruled" - Aldous Huxley

It's obvious the consent is necessary but how you get it is the thing which has changed or perhaps it didn't change at all and, hence, the need to read "Brave New World" again.

While intellectuals such as Aldous Huxley, Kurt Vonnegut, and multiple others were well-known in the fifties / sixties, the approach to such people now is not the same.  They put Julian Assange in a cage so the King of Hell in Washington can throw bananas and righteousness at him.  They torture Chelsea Manning on a daily basis in a different way.  Edward Snowden is cast as a pariah but actually seems, of the few, to be doing relatively well.

Here in the Rockhouse, we're looking for those with vision and this was when that mattered to America with Huxley as one of the ranking geniuses.
