Shun Fujimoto - Major Olympic Hero of 1976

Shun Fujimoto may be the bravest Olympic competitor who ever lived and he's probably known to everyone who ever watched Wide World of Sports.  The general legend is his leg was broken but the actual damage was separation of his knee cap.  Even with that, he fulfilled his team part on the rings competition and he ended with a dismount which was near-perfect but destroyed his knee for life and ended his career in gymnstics.  (WIKI:  Shun Fujimoto)

That kind of selflessness is admirable in just about anything but the strength of will to go through with it, without any regard to the pain, is something really exceptional and he deserves to be a legend.   The video shows an interview with him along with a segment of his performance on the rings.

You can talk about tough hombres all day long but this man delivers it.  Unbelievable performance and he and his teammates did win gold.  There was immense pressure on him since Japan had won the gold for the previous four years but he did not let them down and they won again in 1976.
