Shun Fujimoto may be the bravest Olympic competitor who ever lived and he's probably known to everyone who ever watched Wide World of Sports. The general legend is his leg was broken but the actual damage was separation of his knee cap. Even with that, he fulfilled his team part on the rings competition and he ended with a dismount which was near-perfect but destroyed his knee for life and ended his career in gymnstics.
