The Real Military Threat from China

Another day, another hysterical outburst from some statist tool on the extreme right wing (Downtrend:  China Releases Graphic Showing Nuclear Attack Wiping Out Western US)

You can read more purple blather on this matter if you like (Washington Times:  Inside China: Nuclear submarines capable of widespread attack on U.S.)

My question is where is the surprise.  America and Russia have been playing bumper tag with first-strike nuclear submarines for decades and, to a lesser extent, China has been doing it too.

The question behind the articles presented on the subject is what is America and, specifically, Obama doing to protect against this.  Apparently the writers missed the conclusion that took place, oh, at least twenty years ago that a nuclear war is unwinnable.  Even now there seems to be some thinking that the military can solve a problem that the military created in the first place.

The graphics in the articles don't go far enough as Chinese missiles can hit anywhere in the U.S. and so can those of the Russians.  That there are still war hawks who think the solution to this is more missiles shows the most extraordinary blinding to reality that is still taking place in America and the vast majority of it comes from the Love It or Leave It crowd on the far right.  Those lunatics are at the front of the parade making America the most hated country in the world.
