Queen Elizabeth on Her Ninetieth

Photograph by Annie Leibovitz (best portrait photographer in the world?)

The anti-Royalist platoon can suck it for just now as what a magnificent thing to be living in the Palace since the German Air Force was trying to bomb it.

Annie Leibovitz gives me something of a vision of eternity in those mirrors which maybe in their way mirror the family going back for centuries with the newest (great-grandkid?) and oldest in the same view.

(Ed:  reaching)

Dunno about that and maybe take a look at it a bit more.  No doubt of one thing for me and that's the genius of Annie Leibovitz.  The colors seem close to surreal ... but not.  I see so much depth in it.

It's not long or may already have happened that Elizabeth becomes the longest-reigning monarch in the history of the British Empire and that entire pageant comes to that room in this photograph.

(Ed:  it's not much of an Empire anymore!)

That doesn't make her any less of a Queen.

She gave a television broadcast on Christmas for that Empire or at least the Commonwealth and I remember it from when I was a kid.  Keep in mind, I'm a kid in Australia so she really is the Queen, there isn't anything else, yet here she is saying, hey yah, on Christmas.  This is stuff straight out of a fairy tale because, man, she's the Queen and she lives in Buckingham Palace and England, man, it's in a whole other country.  wtf, I was a kid.

Don't be judging her on her birthday, just imagine what her eyes have seen.
