When Things Make No Sense Whatsoever (video)

Watch how much they talk to each other without ever saying anything and that's musical perfection.  It's also the reason VR music, at least in its current form, will never work.  The players need to see the instruments at least some of the time and they also need to see each other unless the composition is so rigid no deviation is permitted from it.

Maybe you think music evolves into a form which is only expressible by individual artists.  That may sound cool in a sci-fi novel but a wide range of expression requires multiple instruments and there's no way the soloist can play all of them without looking at them.

We can wonder at how Prince approached that lead line but that goes to how he approaches anything and that's likely beyond the understanding of we mortals.

Prince has come to mean as much as Hendrix to me in his music and in his thinking.  They have entirely different styles but both are eminently lyrical in their play and are so much everything shredding is not.  The music always sings and it's of the best place we could possibly go.  They don't tell you where it is because they think you already know.  Most likely you do.

The music almost always makes sense particularly when nothing else does.
