Well ... let's go ...
So, you want something good about America which isn't flag-waving crapola ... every one of the devices for my life in music - Yanks.
Fender Stratocaster - if it's not specifically marked Made in America, no-one will buy it
Gibson Les Paul - one of the most famous instruments in the world
Godin (any of them) - Godin is in Vermont
Harmonica - any type of whistling device goes back to when we still banged on logs but America made it a blues harp
Boss - unknown where they are actually constructed but America designed them and they're so bad-ass you can crash a bike and still they survive.
Psychedelia in Music - San Francisco
Hip-hop - like it or no, America made it
Jazz - a bit questionable since it has huge debt to Africa
Fusion - America
And on and on and on. Don't need no flags because my musical devices, almost all of which came from Yank designs
Synthesizers - largely constructed overseas and much design there as well but Walter nee Wendy Carlos made Arp famous
Rock - Beethoven
(Ed: he's no Yank)
Yah, but it would be cool if he were. Imagine him with some Marshall stacks. The man could cause earthquakes all by himself.
And there's another - Jim Marshall - one of the most significant contributors to rock sound evah
Well ... I'm guessin' you're guessing the point ... now that I've flogged the living hell out of it.
We don't like waving flags but don't take that to mean we ain't appreciatin'. If not for all this kit, I would be under a tree playing a banjo. There's one problem with that ... I've never played a banjo.
Fark, there's another one ...
Banjo - there are many, many types of multi-string instruments so the actual source of the evolution is tough to determine but bluegrass music ... well ...
