After multiple death threats, it doesn't say enough to describe the talk with Cadillac Man as encouraging as a punch in the face would be encouraging after someone says she will use a Tavor on me.
Note: it's reviewed elsewhere as a girly gun, expensive and singularly useless for much of anything.
One substantial difference was much of the talk was the same type of reasoning as with Kannafoot. He isn't hysterical and waving flags, he talks reasonably and we go from there. Even by itself that's encouraging because, frankly, it's been overwhelming to see so many people forming herds and there hasn't been a herd in history which has any kind of a mind, it only knows to charge forward no matter what happens.
The last time I saw herd behavior was coming out of Basic Training into the second level for Advanced Individual Training and some boys started writing WE KILL GOOKS on their helmets and soon all of them were doing it. That single moment may have changed my life more than any other and I resolved I will never allow my mind to be bent like that. It cost a bit more than I would have liked to have paid but I didn't.
We talked of Clinton and he calls her Hillary but we can forgive that. However, he mentioned Obama and 'boots on the ground' and I will jump on that every time because I see all the time veterans who cannot wear boots anymore. The discussion wasn't combat but it's somewhat emotional with me because I see so many.
There was discussion of who should go into the Middle East for combat and we agreed Americans should not do it and I believe we also agreed there is no chance to find bad guys without troops doing it because aircraft blow up a building and hope they got most of them. It looks good on TV but it doesn't do all that much.
The biggest point of contention was regarding Clinton ultimately ending up President, largely because the GOP resistance is scattered and only hard-core loyalists and those who don't think very much would accept the candidacy of Donald Trump or others from that sorry crop. We disagree on the inevitability of Clinton and, fair enough, we shall see but my hope is people have a keen and painful awareness of the travesty of the last fifteen years and the last thing any sane person wants is more of the same. Clinton offers nothing particularly progressive so there's no reason to expect anything but more of the same for her.
(Ed: loyalists or royalists?)
Same thing.
Cadillac Man was more supportive of Obama than I and my insistence has been on the Harry Truman's mantra, the buck stops here. In the modern Presidencies, the buck doesn't stop anywhere and usually turns into a ping pong ball of fault / blame loops.
There was clear agreement if anyone should be engaged in on-the-ground combat then the people of the Middle East need to be doing it. Saudi Arabia is one of the most fascist states in the world and everything coming into the country is controlled by the Saud family. There's nothing close to a democracy and there is substantial subsidization of the Sunni people in ISIS. If they would have a war then let them fight it.
There was general agreement on America's tactics being largely the same of going into a country, wasting the leader, and leaving it under the control of ineffectual leaders or, in the case of Libya, doing nothing at all. Well, we destroyed the government for you so go forth and govern yourselves. You saw how well that went.
There's been a total abdication of any responsibility for creating the power vacuum and the feigned dismay shown when people ask what went wrong really deserves no comment.
We reviewed the information from Putin regarding a parade of oil tanker trucks loaded for smuggling into, I believe, Turkey and I asked why not blow it up. Cadillac Man responded, well, why does Putin not blow it up. Fair enough but blow up the fucking road and cut off their money supply.
Cadillac Man has less regard for Putin's credibility than I but there's no credibility in the obscenity of America's news channels because they have been thumping war drums, ever since this started, always without any objective at all except killing Muslims.
Most encouraging of all is the affirmation to keep writing. Even if it angers some, it at least made them think enough to get pissed off. My preference is people are not pissed off with me but I will not shy away from anything due to that risk. Truth must be told and I'm routinely vilified for it but so it goes. He encourages and says don't stop, it's like reading a book because of the range of content.
And, most of all, he and I are roughly the same age and both have the same outlook insofar as waking every day is a privilege and always will be so long as each of us are growing in some way and moving forward. I hold strongly to that as does he and we will move forward, possibly not always in the same direction but friends never tell friends which way it should be, we talk and we think.
Thank you, bro. As always, it was a wonderful talk.
Uh, Uh, Uh!
Note: the above was the chant back in the university days and a bunch of drunked-up, blown-away academic delinquents would, at two in the morning, begin the chant and would sound for all the world like a pack of barking dogs. We didn't care, it was a riot but possibly not so much for anyone else who might have heard it. My parents put up with a whole lot, one hell of a whole lot!
I did the chant this morning in leaving a video message for Cadillac Man and Yevette heard me from the other room. She rushed into the room with the thought I had a medical emergency. Sorry, Yevette!
