"The End of the World in Fort Worth" - One More Week

"The End of the World in Fort Worth" is something I would love to pursue right now but there's no way without the replacement looper.  It's due to arrive next Monday and I really don't need anything from the box other than the looper as I can plug the existing cables, power supply, etc into the replacement.  Then reload the loops over USB and ... presto ... time to play.

Regulars know already but, briefly, it's everything else ending and the Rockhouse is the musical sanctuary.  However, I don't want to use the song for anything which sounds at all preachy.  This is Sanctuary and the last thing anyone wants in a sanctuary is someone preaching about anything.

So, week until that can happen.

Meanwhile, "War is for the Generals" has a high level of attention.  I did not record it again today although I will, hopefully tomorrow, but first more focus on the lyrics.

I have seen the war,
I've never seen the peace.
War is for the generals,
it's not for you and me.

I've seen the young girl running,
the napalm on her back.
When will all this stop?
When can she go back?

I've seen the monk afire
courage more than I can know
He sees his country burning
where else can he go

I've seen the wounded soldiers
who grew up in a war
but what else can they know
it's all they ever saw

The soldiers will go home
but no-one really cares
People only watch them fighting
and after goes nowhere

People cheer for the killing
the news drinks their blood
but no-one sheds a tear
when at home they live in mud

We have seen too many wars
We have never seen the peace
War is for the generals
It's not for you and me

Hmmm.  Will review further.  Lyrics are usually a five-minute hack job as poems don't come hard.  That's not such a big deal as it's a one-dimensional statement and not some profound allegory.  This one strikes as a near-miss because some parts will bug me until I consider them the best I can do and right now I don't.

You can see the phenomenon of the poem all over Facebook where they're screaming for a war and there's not a single one of them who gives a rat's ass about veterans.  There are some, sure enough, as they contribute to wounded warriors but the silence just now is not impressive.  It's always good to help wounded warriors but not so much if you're not willing to prevent more from being wounded.
