SHERP, the most Bad Ass Vehicle in the World ... for Touring the Arctic Circle

A dune buggy will never again look so cool after the SHERP.  These vehicles will go anywhere and the genius is in the tires since they raise and lower inflation to surmount obstacles and the builder claims the vehicle can go over a one-meter obstruction in the road.  When many of the hipster vehicles will bottom out simply going over a speed bump, the SHERP will go over anything and this strikes the Rockhouse as supremely cool.

This is a view of the preliminary evaluation prior to embarking but now they have started.

A team of researchers has begun a seven-month expedition through Russia’s most hard-to reach northern regions, taking on the longest on-land route above the Arctic Circle in Russian-made off-road vehicles.

The expedition set off from the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk on Friday and will reach the Far East’s city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky early in November. The team, consisting of 8 people, will cover some 10,000 kilometers (6,214 miles) of Russia’s roadless northern regions in four off-road SHERP vehicles during the Polar Summer.

You probably don't need the annoying splash panels with the obligatory annoying music at the start but the SHERP is way cooler than those.  The capability of these vehicles is extraordinary.

I have written an article previously about these SHERP vehicles but now they have started out on their expedition and check the track of it.

Sure and you thought the Dakar rally was tough, huh?  That li'l Hummer looks kind of sissy now, doesn't it (larfs).
