When Middle Class White People Play Doctor ... "Vaxxed"

The world would be much healthier without wealthy white liberals pretending to be doctors.  Right now Robert De Niro is going for the title of King of the Luddite Medical Realm with the movie, "Vaxxed," which is riddled with enough pseudo-scientific crap as to keep Facebook busy for a thousand years.

When De Niro was asked of his qualifications to make a movie about autism, he replied only, 'my kid has autism.'

So, there you have it.  Whatever complaint or malady may befall your kid will automatically bestow upon you medical powers beyond those of the Mayo Clinic.  If your kid sadly falls victim to cancer, right-o, now you're an oncologist.

Note:  reading a few pages on Facebook also confers extraordinary medical powers and many acquire their expertise this way in the modern age.

There's not a shred of medical evidence to support the anti-vaccination crew's premise that use of vaccines increases the vulnerability of people to autism.  The truth of it is the biggest factor in changes in rates of affliction by autism came from the psychiatrists who diagnose it.  Their guidelines for the diagnosis of autism changed not long after 2000 and changed again fairly recently.

The general implication from the change to diagnosis is anyone who's a little shy is autistic.  The advent of that change is when people, ostensibly with autism, started screaming about their affliction ... on Facebook.  It's a bitch when you withdraw from everything except social networks, isn't it.  Maybe it didn't occur to them social networks cause the withdrawal and it has nothing to do with autism.  It damn sure didn't occur to De Niro.

Whether Hollywood or Big Pharma or Facebook is the biggest threat to the health of America remains to be seen but De Niro does his best to tip the balance toward Hollywood with the sorriest excuse for medical advice since the U.S. Army used American soldiers for stooges in A-bomb testing.

Note:  that really happened.

We have marveled sometimes at the intelligence of a great many actors.  This, however, is not one of those times.

DeNiro pulles that movie from the Tribecca Film Festival. It will still be released but not through the festival. Waxman has been pummelled over the years for manipulating his data to support his claims. And even though has been proved wrong continues to spread hia cancerous beliefs

Should be Wakefield not Waxman

Thanks for the specifics as you see it too this is the most cynical kind of doctoring and the potential harm they bring to people is enormous. In their arrogance and their vanity they think it's warranted. No way to fathom it.

It seems you could make a credible case they engage in malpractice and, in effect, they practice medicine without a license.

And, yah, I do spank liberals when it's warranted to do so (larfs).
