Multiple pages throw up 'security alerts' and try to draw you into a dialog, often to download and install something or to contact some 'team of experts' and you can't cancel out of the alert nor can you close the tab to close the page.
There is one recent experience with my friend in which the 'team of experts' posed, convincingly, as if they represented Apple and I'm not sure what it cost my friend to get out of it but I advised her do not send them any money (she didn't) and we reviewed but it doesn't seem they had gone far enough to do any damage. I believe RESOLVE was the outfit in that case. Total crooks. Don't do business with them, ever.
Note: no-one represents Apple ... except Apple.
First, the fix: never ever respond to these alerts as they are poison and will either cost you money, your computer or both. To get out of a problem like that, immediately quit Safari and then launch it again while holding the SHIFT key down. This, in effect, is Safe Mode and Safari will not open any tabs, even the ones you have pinned. The pins will be in-place but they will not be loaded.
From there, you can easily recover. Click each pinned tab to get Safari to reload it and then open whatever you like as you will.
The front for these things is often your FLASH player is out-of-date, your FLV player is out-of-date, some JavaScript error has taken place, etc, etc.
Moreover, there are multiple apps which will 'tune memory' and perform other types of arcane functions. If it's really your purpose to get such a tool (i.e. for Apple you don't really need one) is to use Onyx because it has a good reputation over a number of years. If you don't know for sure, don't do it. That sort of stuff goes like a political promise and you know how often political promises come true.
