An upcoming biography of former President George H.W. Bush contains harsh critical assessments by the 41st president of some of the top officials from his son's presidency. (CNN: Bush 41 hits 43's aides in new biography)
There is nothing critical about an assessment when it puts all blame at the feet of 'Iron-Ass' Cheney and his tool, the Arrogant Rumsfeld. Between the lines it screams, 'The President was too spineless to stand up to them.'
You can't have both versions at once as the buck always stops at the President's desk and that, as I understand it, is why we have a President.
We have not read the book but the review of the content shows nothing which serves George Bush the Junior in any good way. There is the claim Dick Cheney built an 'empire' within the White House and this is another comment on the lack of management skill by the President that he permitted this to happen.
My assessment of both of them is too weak for politics but maybe they could be campfire girls.
Meanwhile, Jeb Bush tries to distance himself from George "Read My Lips" Bush and George "War President" Bush, both of whom gave either poor or catastrophic administrations to us. The pitch he shares the name but he isn't like them was thin in any case but dear ol' Papa Bush has brought it right back to the forefront in what may well be his weakest gambit yet.
Presumably the Older Bush had hoped to reinforce any idea of the Younger Bush as having been a good boy, a God-fearin' man, and this to minimize the liability to Jeb Bush but the Older forgets he is a liability as well and has contributed nothing of value since he left the White House, most certainly not his sons.
Contrast any recent President with Jimmy Carter and all of them failed in their post-Presidential years.

Tell you what, George: we know better than to read your lips (i.e. no new taxes) and we sure as hell won't waste time on your book.
