"Things to Come" represents seminal sci fi since it was so far ahead of everything else. Predicting WWII in 1936 didn't require any particular clairvoyance but it predicted much more than that.
The effects are just as cheesy as you may expect for 1936 but, unlike a modern Marvel movie, the story doesn't collapse without them. Korda did a remarkably capable job of it.
Wings Over the World represents the freemasonry of science - John Cabal (Raymond Massey)
The general premise is engineers and scientists will bring logic and peace to the world while they rebuild it. Wings Over the World delivers and they do rebuild the world to create a state of relative luxury for everyone. A group of malcontents, however, rises within that perfect world and seeks to wreck it all over again. The end is not as bleak as that short summary sounds but it's accurate insofar as a world of peace isn't enough for the berserkers so they start troubles all over again.
The rejection of technology is brilliantly prophetic since the kit he predicted being rejected didn't even exist yet. We see the rejection commonly today in terms of people taking the position it doesn't matter what scientists say if it's not in the Bible. Same thing.
I know y'all regulars are too hip for that but you also know the phenomenon exists.
