The Woz Sees the Future ... but Doesn't See Much

Include a crazy sci fi pic which will look fifty years from now like something from Popular Mechanics for how far wrong it went in its prediction of the future.

Cool pic, tho

Steve Wozniak was one of the primary Apple whizkids and primary means he and Steve Jobs.  I haven't been an Appleologist to study why he bailed at one of the worst possible times but that happened.  Now, many years later, he has some observations about the future.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has made several bold predictions regarding the future of humanity both here and on Mars, the influence of artificial intelligence and even the possibility of humans meeting with extraterrestrials.

"Apple will be around a long time, like IBM," Wozniak said in an interview Friday, as cited by USA Today. "Look at Apple's cash. It can invest in anything. It would be ridiculous to not expect them to be around. The same goes for Google and Facebook."

Of course Apple will survive and for the reason The Woz indicated but he didn't say IBM built up all that cash from an origin in making Selectric typewriters.  Say there, Steve-O, do you see any IBM Selectrics around anywhere?

Note:  the Selectrics had much better action than a crumby computer terminal too, didn't they.

The iPhone has ten or fifteen years to go before some blow-me-away gadget turns them into fodder for landfills.  Oh, you still carry your hardware in your purse or wear it, do you, dear?  Well, that's unfortunate, isn't it (sniff).

In relation to Apple, he’s backing the tech giant to succeed in the field of self-driving cars.

"Apple is such a large company it has to go after big markets," Wozniak told NBC on Monday. "And self-driving cars is one that we're all reading about every day...So I'm hoping Apple goes the same way with autonomous cars."

The time for Apple to go deep with autonomous vehicles was at least five and better ten or more years ago.  To come into it now is like going to Elon Musk at SpaceX with a bottle rocket to tell him you want to be a Spaceman like him.

It's remarkable how Tim Cook has come up with one way after the other to fuck that up and now autonomous car development is tanked at Apple.

He has now made several other bold claims which, given his track record, people might want to pay attention to.

Wozniak claims the cities of the future will be designed and built from scratch in the desert, affording humanity a fresh start when it comes to urban planning, architecture and engineering. While he believes this will overcome housing issues around the world, he does unfortunately predict that we’ll be living in biodomes and will need wearable suits to venture outside.

The Woz has gone whacked with this wubbish.

Cities are always built near water whether it's a river or the ocean or preferably both.  I assume we don't have to review where water is not.

In fifty years we will be living in biodomes, huh?

That assumes we have reckless imbeciles like Trump continuously undoing the environmental protections which took fifty years to create.  Even vandals like Trump and his goon squad probably won't have America under biodomes in fifty years but China never had an EPA and Beijing is fucked.  They either lose the cars or switch to gas masks (shrug).

Sorry, Woz, but this just ain't blowin' me skirt up, mate.

Wanna hear about my Rock City design?

Everybody:  NO!
