"Que Sera Sera" | Doris Day | Theme for "The Man Who Knew Too Much"

The Rockhouse talks about this song all the time so I might as well spin it.

"Que Sera Sera" may bring a touch of nostalgia to many Boomers and it comes to me from my ol' Mother singing it in the kitchen in Australia when I was a kid.

The song has significance since it wasn't just a theme but rather was integral to the plot.  Her son had been kidnapped and was somewhere in the same building.  If she could only sing loud enough that he can hear it then perhaps he will come.

The volume of her voice got ridiculous after a while ... but he did hear her and come running.

Lyrics

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty will I be rich
Here's what she said to me

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother what will I be
Will I be handsome will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be
Que Sera Sera
