The purpose of the question about Chelsea Manning is to specifically identify whether the candidate truly believes in equality or only says the words.  The additional purpose is to determine the support for using Chelsea Manning as the scapegoat for Afghanistan and fifteen years of chaos which have been wrought there.

The question regarding the nuclear arsenal looks to determine if the candidates even understand the problem of creating a defense via deterrence or establishing an overt and aggressive military threat to the rest of the world in a nuclear war which cannot be won.

The question about NATO provocation is to determine if the candidates are aware how close the country has come to nuclear war from exactly the same provocation.  Obama obviously didn't or he would not have treated the recent NATO war games with such brazen caprice, as would Clinton.

The question about high-tech workers is to determine if the response is anything more than a simplistic notion of changing taxes.  They're already changed by the GOP and have not changed back.  The GOP talks against the same tax plan they lauded so they only argue with themselves.
