Moderation of Comments on the Blog Because ... Facebook

The moderation of comments is a damn nuisance and I hate as much as anyone the need to register for anything, it's the same reason I steadfastly refuse to use real names on the blog.  Bad guys can monitor it all they like but the names will never reveal who any of you are.

None of are here for any bad purpose and the moderation is to prevent the intrusion of anyone who would bring that.  Mostly it's for prevention of spam of which there is a varying volume, sometimes not so much and sometimes a landslide.  No, I don't want a penis extender which also doubles as a calculator and a clock.  Thanks, but no.

The endless bickering, nitpicking, carping and quibbling on Facebook show the unfortunate side of it but relationships with people who think is the reward.  Facebook is a difficult thing to throw away despite the abounding inadequacies of the system and the blazing incompetence of the programmers who do not seek to facilitate conversation but rather to pigeon-hole, compartmentalize it, and, ultimately, marginalize it.

As is shown in multiple dialogs here on the blog, I will not constrain discussion with dispassionate reasoning toward goals needed by all, I will not modify a word of anything anyone offers toward that, and here I do not believe freedom is that which tolerates ignorant banter anywhere it may wish to go. Banter all you like but please do take it to Facebook because you will not see it here.

We, as in the journalistic we (i.e. me), do not deal in sound bites from you and will not interpret your words nor take extracts from them to make disingenuous points.  We are not duplicitous journalists.  You are the People, as are we (i.e. me), and Zenna Anderson wrote (sci-fi) of the "The People, No Different Flesh" quite a few years ago.  The title sounds racist but the meaning is the flesh means nothing but rather the meaning comes from the mind inside.

We do not write for money because we solidly believe it corrupts the message and the evidence of that is sadly prevalent.  It's all the more reason to stand for truth because so much which should be true is bereft of any real truth.

I cannot explain it but I feel a greater duty toward that than any other time in my life.  Some friends, real ones, have been overwhelmed by it but please believe the reality overwhelms me too and that's some large part of the motivation to speak.  Someone has to do it.
