"Back To Square One" - Ernie Isley (live video in NY, May 1990)

Ernie Isley talked of how he would be hanging with Jimi Hendrix while he played ... and Isley would pretend to read his social studies book for school.

He's today's inspiration and escape, if you like, from a brutal world as hatred will do all manner of things but only love can do this.

There's little point in writing of ISIS because you already know and the ignorant have been whipped into a frothy, hateful lather by the lesser of the GOP candidates, maybe all of them.  As to which of them, frankly, I don't care.  That hatefulness sends me right back to the music where they can't go and would not even if they could.  Maybe that's running but if there's a real Sanctuary, would you not go there too.

It's not a simple matter of abandoning Facebook as there are people who think.  It's not that many but that's always the way.  There's an overwhelming stink of binary thinking and that never works with music.

Therefore, fiddle with the GT-100 because it forces knee bends and, it's unknown why, but that get down / get up move is a real whacker.  There's been intent focus on eating precisely the right thing and strength is building but it's damn slow.  Nevertheless, it is building.  It's really not clear what's wrong but there's no doubt in me this is the best way to fight it.

(Ed:  by working instead of fighting?)

Righty, right, matey.

There's no chance of educating anyone and it's arrogant to believe so.  Therefore, lead by the example and if any wish to follow it then they will.  If others choose not to follow then it's their right but continuing forward in this way means Sanctuary will be unsullied by hatefulness and, by its Nature, it has to be.

(Ed:  preachy)

Maybe so but this day has been hammerhead depression from willful ignorance and it's extremely difficult to avoid when it's on headlines around the world and people reinforce it online.  Even if you don't need that Sanctuary, I do ... a lot.

Therefore, work for it ... and I do.

Ernie Isley is very much today's inspiration and "Back to Square One" has its meaning for him and likely the same for me.  Stand up, play it, make it happen.

(Ed: like Ernie Isley?)

Nope, like Silas.  Even if I could, why should he like it if I try to imitate him or Hendrix either, for that matter.

(Ed:  heresy)

Oh, really.  Listen to him again.
