Airbus and Aerion Bring the 'Son of Concorde' But Hold On Before Applause

The AS2 aircraft currently being built by Airbus and Aerion may be one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built.  It's anticipated to be in full-production by 2021.

While the AS2 does not have the majestic beauty of some vintage aircraft such as the Lockheed Constellation, it's beautiful for this class of aircraft.

The AS2 is also one of the most luxurious aircraft, possibly the most luxurious, anywhere.

The first observation is the AS2 doesn't carry many passengers and you see just how few by the windows in the upper image.  This is the world's first private supersonic jet aircraft.  They will be built by Airbus in Europe and final assembly will be performed by Aerion in the U.S.  While part of that is a good deal for America, at what cost.

This aircraft is for people with such wealth there is no way to reasonably measure it and the immediate response on that from the Socialist Left is ... where is mass transit?

The second observation is a question regarding the stall speed of the aircraft.  We saw a private jet park itself into an apartment building only about a week ago and this aircraft will require yet more expertise to fly it.  With wings like that, this aircraft will inevitably have a high stall speed which will make one flaming bitch in trying to land it.

Overall, it's pretty but the Socialist Left is not impressed.  The aircraft represents technology squandered on luxury while ignoring the immediate need for better mass transit as shown in any big city in the world.
