Trashing Prince for Fun and Profit

For those of you who really loved and followed him, you know already he never advocated drugs and, in fact, chastised one musician for smoking reefer because it makes all things more distant.  I don't agree with him about reefer but Prince's position was clear and there was never any perception of him as a doper.

As soon as he died, the 'news' services were champing at the bit to trash him with their (cough) investigative journalism.  One after the other they have been teasing with little tidbits regarding abuse of painkillers as if this had anything whatever to do with what he did.

Pill mills are all over the place and nothing much happens unless they kill someone with an overdose.

Here at the Rockhouse, we have loved Prince ever since discovering him in "Purple Rain" and that's kind of a mainstream way to do it but, I figure, whatever way gets me there doesn't matter, just get me there.  That's when I discovered he is one of the best and maybe the best guitarist on the planet, always with taste, speed, and style.  We learned of his many, many styles in presenting his music and saw one of the most diversely-talented musicians playing anywhere.  We never, ever, saw him using drugs, promoting drugs, or advocating drug use in any way whatsoever.

If the purpose of CNN or any other is actually news, they might actually find some once in a while.  Instead all of them jump on the death of a celebrity and prey on them like a bunch of desperate vampires until they suck every drop of blood out of whomever just exited.  Of course they do, they can make a shitload of money on clickbait and, oh yeah, they sure as hell do.  Why risk the real news offending someone and instead give up tabloid crap masked with sincerity to seem like someone on those news services actually loved him or gave one tinker's damn for him.

Yah, we're pissed.  This gross vampirism for the sake of profit is becoming a ubiquitous phenomenon as the morality of late is anything is cool so long as you make a buck on it.  Do what you will but how you deal with that fact when you're about to kick off this coil will be a real joy, won't it.  Think back to all the money you got and the people you destroyed.  Be proud.
