Pigeon Populism Works Better than in America

Populism in America is important until an election at which time we discover the ultimate meaning of the Will of the People (i.e. not much).  However populism is important to pigeons and they do it better than we.  (Science Daily:  Pigeon flock members can 'overrule' incompetent leaders)

If there's anything humans don't do well and America gives the tackiest of possible examples, it's overruling incompetent leaders.  Yet pigeons can do it.

Well ...

Researchers noticed the fastest pigeons tended to be the most important for guiding the flock rather than the most competent.  Keep in mind the risk of anthropomorphization since what do humans know about pigeon 'competence' anyway.  To all appearance, the only competence needed for a pigeon is the ability to drop the payload to the center of your bald head.

Note:  and wash that stuff off with soap and water since, wtf, it can kill you (fo' real).

In other recent research it was observed birds which have a long migration path of up to thousands of miles tend to rely on older, experienced birds for decision making about the best place for their Winter nesting.  That showed an interesting progression within that 'culture' for managing responsibility.

In today's research, we see how some 'rebel pigeons' can change the ruling of those pigeons who are ostensibly the leaders so we don't know what would happen if pigeons became long-distance travelers like whooping cranes and others but it seems their PMS (Pigeon Management System) may not work so well in that circumstance.

Beware again of anthropomorphizing since pigeon behavior really doesn't have anything to do with why your Uncle Harold cheats at pinochle.  Frankly, we don't even know if it's possible to cheat at pinochle but if so then we're sure Uncle Harold knows how to do it.  Thus far we have not heard of any pigeon card sharks but science is always open to new possibilities.

Based on pigeon support and acceptance of rebels, it seems obvious which choice pigeons would make for America:  Jill Stein.  Frankly, we suggest listening to the pigeons since listening to the politicians hasn't (cough) worked out so well, has it.
