The Second American Civil War

The First American Civil War wasn't about freeing slaves and Abraham Lincoln said that specifically.  Really it was only about setting a reason for to have Summertime barbecues with parades featuring really horrible music.  Before hammering on this point, do consider reading some history since Lincoln's only concern was holding the Republic together and he said specifically he would not have freed the slaves if it were not required as part of the overall objective.

(Ed:  wee historical note as the Fourth of July wasn't about the Civil War!)

True enough, Historical Harry, but you might also include in your note nothing celebrates the Civil War nor is there any celebration of freeing the slaves and you may ask why one and not the other but we will instead go immediately to another Civil War which is also not commemorated.

In the 1930's, the American workers were organizing and trying to form the first industrial labor unions as opposed to the ancient guilds of craftsmen.  In that time, the corporations, police and, most of all, the goons came into play.  The goons are some of the most vicious thugs America can find and, as you can see with the police force today, there's never been a shortage of them.

American workers fought and gave their blood for the right to organize and, by the forties under FDR, there had been some success.  That success lasted, for the most part, for thirty to forty years until it was again subject to full-scale thuggish behavior from rent-a-cops under Reagan and since.

Those years were some of the most prosperous across the board in America when everyone or as many as possible were enjoying the fruits of the land.

And then Reagan brought an official end to it when he used to office of the Presidency to sucker punch the PATCO union for air traffic controllers.  The destruction of the American unions continued with Clinton and NAFTA and Obama continues that effort with his so-called trade agreements (i.e. union-murdering agreements).

This is the period of America in which the rich got rich and everyone else goes to Walmart.

In many ways, there has been a a Third American Civil War as well and America lost that one when the unions died.  The country is now lost in a military malaise of poser cops and a plastic Pentagon, none of whom have any serious idea of what they're doing beyond, well, this is what I did yesterday so I might as well do it today.  At least it pays.
