Going Mechano Weird with a Drone Tuna

BioSwimmer might just be the most unimaginative name yet for any kind of drone and it's not accurate since it's not 'bio' anything when it's made from a bucket of bolts and of course it swims ... it's a damn tuna.  (Science Daily:  Disguised as a tuna, bioswimmer is changing the game for underwater inspections)

BioSwimmer takes drone technology out to a new dimension of weird and the ostensible need for it is the inspection of the hulls of ships for nefarious contraband affixed somehow to their hulls.  There's some obvious advantage to the smuggling to do that to possibly fool the bulls in the target port but we don't see how that external cargo is going to survive an ocean voyage out there.  Perhaps the clever smuggler therefore carries the contraband on the inside of the ship for the journey and then somehow moves it to the hull on entry to a foreign port.

(Ed:  it's getting too weird!)

I'm tellin' you, mate (larfs).

The article mentions also the advantages in emulating the motion of a tuna fish since this bestows exceptional maneuverability.

Funded through the DHS S&T Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, the BioSwimmer and its onboard sensors work to inspect the outside of ships for drugs and other contraband trying to make it across the border underwater.  This inspection is enabled through the BioSwimmer's ability to maneuver within the confines of ships' propulsion, steering, and recesses, all while twisting and turning within the water just like an actual fish.

The Rockhouse has not much familiarity with building ships (i.e. zero) but the visuals we have seen previously did not reveal any particularly difficult navigation in viewing the hulls of any of them.  Therefore, we go straight to the sci fi with the maneuverability being mandated by anti-drone BioSwimmers which attack the ostensibly benign true BioSwimmer.

(Ed:  fish drone wars?)

Once again, you've got the ball, Maverick.

(Ed:  will the references to "Top Gun" stop soon?)

Not likely as I read an article which described at least one politician as a 'man boy' so I feel compelled to live the role which is expected to me.  Wanna see my guns?

(Ed:  you don't even have any guns!)

Nah but a man boy has to pretend, it's required.

How about the really nefarious potential in using BioSwimmer as the stealth marauder to hide within shoals of tuna so trawlers can more easily catch them.

(Ed:  that's a peach until the battery runs out and don't even go plutonium power or it's war)

Fair enough as we really don't want to tap out all aspects of ludicrous in this since others may want to take a crack at adding to the list and it would be greedy to try to identify all of them.
