"Woman in the Snow" - Silas Scarborough Live at Cat's Art MusikCircus (audio podcast)

"Woman in the Snow" has a very strong anti-drug message and this may seem hypocritical in the face of my lack of shyness over my enthusiasm for smoking marijuana and eating magic mushrooms.  However, there is a vast difference between drugs that grow from the ground and drugs that have been created or re-processed by man.  Crack cocaine, meth, synthetic marijuana, and many others are extremely dangerous and this song is my message on that fact.  I do not see a conflict between this and marijuana or mushrooms as, to my knowledge, neither has ever caused any injury to anyone.

The song is about a streetwalker.  I've lived in some fairly rough neighborhoods and I've seen the crack-addicted streetwalkers working their trade from the sidewalk.  The one in the song was particularly bold and I would see her pretty much every morning when I went out.  But then one day she was gone and didn't come back.

There are two basic possibilities:  the first is that she turned away from 'the life' and got that and the drugs out of her system.  The other possibility is what else might have happened.

"Woman in the Snow" is available for free on the Ride the Dragon podcast  or you can link to the song directly to play it immediately.

There is the story of another live performance of this song on-stage in Cincinnati and you can read about that / watch the video in the following article:  Michi and Silas Lighting Fires at Cat's Art MusikCircus w/Pics - Updated
