The Chimp at the Cincinnati Zoo

The chimp was atop the mountain
in the Cincinnati Zoo
she seemed so deep in thought up there
and did not say, as I arrived
well, gee, how do you do

As I watched I became enchanted
and I wondered, what can she possibly think
So I pulled out a pad of paper
with charcoal from my things

Then it came the ape down here
studied the ape high in its lair
while it studied as it may see and dream
it felt my look upon it ...
  but clearly didn't care

It was then I knew of another life
There was something near the trees
I turned to find something far unknown
and it was studying me

I asked, do they do it all with mirrors
It replied with great mirth and glee
How should I know what's happening here
There's something studying me
