For a slashing of some creeps, we want to see a professional job such as we can expect from John Oliver. Funny or Die delivers it for North Carolina where the governor has just signed into law draconian anti-LGBT measures in the (cough) defense of religious freedom.

The Rasta Hat Was Right!
Spring time pops into bloom all over the place in all kinds of ways. We saw the First Iris of Spring this morning. The Rasta Hat arrived in the morning mail. The primary bandages are now removed.
And the hat was right about the ganja. Tell me about one love!
Back to the top: Frühling is Spring in German. It just dawned how to pronounce it as the üh is like the ur in pure. I don't know if either is a true dipthong but it works for Frühling. If you pronounce that as pureling, you fairly close.
It's interesting to me to see in some ways German is remarkably like English but in others worlds apart. Lots of linguistics behind that which I find fascinating but another time ... because most people hate it (larfs).
Scribes are already down for the arrival of the Rasta Hat and it's a beauty, it is. Even better than I hoped and is cozy comfortable. Can't stand tight hats so this is just right.
There is no need for a pic of the current situation because the incisions are long and that means a lot of blood. It's gratuitously melodramatic to post pics of that because there is no action required on my end except to be cool and let the body do what it will. That means I won't do much to clean up the blood because it will mess up the other dressings and that's only pushing it, in a highly stupid way.
So it's ugly but it's still good. I still have parts of I-71 in my back so I couldn't care less about scars but I care a lot about melodrama. The key play of the moment is there are zero negative waves and I really, really want to play.
There's always a kick and just now it's that the strap goes right over the situation on my back. That can't happen and it's a big part of the scratch for the week.
But then you think, mon, you think. Because the ganja make you think and then you think, there's a keyboard. That don't hurt too much to play. Plus it has a sound like an electric guitar and it's obscene to do that with keys but the ganja don't know no obscene. It did a heavy metal "Silent Night" one time just because if you will break the peace, shatter it into tiny bits! (No, I didn't keep it. larfs)
(Long pause)
She jumped into my arms, man. What should I tell her ... go away. It started out with "Hey, Mister Ganja Man" on a loop so that was carryin' on and it's an old bit but that means one thing: got to screw with it. So it got a loop of keys on top of the existing and it's not such an island bit but I liked the sound.
That's when the Galaxy Guitar jumped into my arms. By jiggling the strap, I got it to a point where it was reasonably ok and that's fine because, once you put weight on the strap, it won't move.
She was in almost perfect tune even after some days now. She was waiting for me.
Except for the bandages, I didn't plan anything for today, it just been happening. One thing about serendipity, never, never plan on it. Accept and enjoy the wonderfulness of whatever it is while it flourishes. Some stuff that sucks will come along but it ain't here yet. Ha!
The jams were surprisingly good and I do wish I had recorded it. Better to have a fish that got away than no fish at all.
(Ed: um, Dagwood, the fish still ain't there)
It's all in the mind, see. You just think it ain't there. You don't think there's a cat in the box either, do you.
(Ed: one more reference to Schrödinger and I load the gun!)
Roger that, Cap'n.
The Rasta Hat Lives!
Seeing the first Iris of the Spring is nice, very nice but there was an even better sign with the morning mail which delivered the Rasta Hat from the House of Nubian in NYC and it's even better than in the advertisement.
A picture is worth a thousand words ... or ten thousand of mine ... soooo ...

And I didn't even need a parrot to fill it out after all. I love this hat and that's got to mean ganja cannot be far. The Rasta Hat won't tell me where, tho. It just sez, dumb ass, hats can't talk.
Normally I hate hats because they're tight and they give me headaches but this one is stretchy knit and feels like it's all full of ganja goodness.
The image is the Lion of Judah and that's how Rastas refer to the Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia who may have a credible claim of a direct line of descendants to the times of King Solomon. He is said to be the 225th descendant in that line. Ethiopia never rolled over for European imperialism and is greatly admired in Africa for that reason. Other countries have even adopted Ethiopia's colors for their own flags when they achieved independence.
Rasta is everywhere and Rastas often say 'one love' but there is only one love and we do or we don't. Here at the Rockhouse, we definitely do. Rasta!

Strap Locks for Guitar - Dunlop Recommended by Dave Smith
Probably only electrical musicos will see a need for these because electric guitars are almost always heavier than acoustic guitars and a solid-body electric guitar will always be heavier, usually much heavier.
The problem to solve is the strap coming loose from the guitar is an almost guaranteed broken neck because it will probably be impossible to catch her before she crashes to the floor. However she hits it will be a sad day because it's almost impossible for the girl to survive a hit like that. Electric guitars sound so tough but really they're quite delicate and that needs / deserves respect.
In forty-five years, I had never heard of strap locks and I discovered I have a friend who swears by them. He was holding his guitar in such a way that I remarked I would never do that because I have a deathly fear of the girl getting away and breaking her neck. He sez no problem and this is why.
From Guitar Center we find Dunlop Dual-Design Straplok System Black and Dunlop is the specific recommendation of my friend amid offerings from a number of different vendors. They come in multiple finishes (e.g. gold, silver, nickel, etc) but my preference is black.
Here are the individual bits comprising the Dunlop System:

Here are the bits after installation and ready for use:

Probably you can see the little nubbies on the end of the part which inserts into the receiver on the body of the guitar and constitutes the locking mechanism. My friend swears by the System and the picture sure shows he trusts it. (I don't have permission to use the pic so you will need to visit Dave Smith on Facebook to see it. Many will likely know him better as Anek Fuchs from SL. Yah, the man can play.)
There is one li'l twist and there's always one li'l twist, isn't there. I'm not clear on why this should happen but I have had trouble with each of the Godin xtSA guitars in that the screw for the upper strap receiver would work its way loose and then instead of the strap coming off, the entire receiver would come off. That was solved with Gorilla Glue and that's a hell of a solution but anything which saves the life of a guitar is a friend of mine.
Mounting this Dunlop System would likely mean removing the screws by fairly savage means and that would mean filling in the aftermath with wood putty so the same location can be used again. That solution is so ugly it's almost better to live in fear but it remains a consideration because fear is the mindkiller, blah de blah blah.

The Saga of the Great Adventure
As the Official Hunter/Gatherer, it was on me to acquire more milk and other wholesome goodness so off I went on my hunting/gathering task.
People are a bit shocked to see me so I sez to the girl at the checkout, "See, I was saving a busload of baby orphans from the escaping bank robbers, you know."
She gives me the 'sure you were' look but she's smiling so ...
I sez, "Yeah, you know, they wanted to give me a medal but what good are medals. I just wanted to see those kids are ok!"
She updates her look to 'this is complete bullshit but I like it' and we're laughing.
Life is good even when it sucks and comedy even comes in the midst of suckage if you let it. The countdown continues until removal of the primary bandages and that happens in about three hours, twenty-six minutes and twenty-eight seconds ... more or less.
(Ed: no jumping the gun, hear!)
Nah, no risk of that. I'm much more afraid of infection than I am of getting messed-up by anything else.
Sometimes you hear people say RL is just like online but what I learn from that is I seriously don't want to see the RL for anyone who believes that. I might have seen one today as young hottie with her stud muffin in tow never stopped tapping on her cellphone unless it was to peer into her smartphone which she also kept handy for quick access. I would have asked her if she remembers when young people actually did things rather than watching life on a four-inch screen but then I thought she probably doesn't.
That's one way to deal with RL (i.e. avoid it altogether) but I much prefer making stuff up. So there I was, a busload of helpless baby orphans in front of me and escaping bank robbers approaching. Of course I responded, any man would, and ...
The Science in Magic Mushroom Trippin'

Someone must have selected these ones because each one looks sort of like a li'l penis. Maybe they even taste the same ... how should I know (larfs).
If LSD is too 'hectic' then mushrooms may well be yer best trippin' bud because it's a different kind of ambience but is still incredibly mind-opening and beautiful. They aren't even close to harmful and the last time trippin' with mushrooms was only a few years ago ... the first time was in 1972 (larfs some more).
You will eat quite a few of these li'l penises, tho, as it takes some grams of these to launch. It's a little weird to start as you will almost certainly puke after a while ... but ... it's ok and it's only part of the launch services. After you unload that, all is peaches ... and a rainbow of colors ... but, most of all, da blizz, da blizz.
If'n you're thinking it was only white guys chewing these things, you're trippin' more than I am! (roars laughing) Black guys were trippin' balls just fine, thank you very much.
The world turned meaner, a lot meaner, after many stopped. Many became avaricious and that's only a path to hellfire. The trippin' people didn't turn mean but sure as hell many others did. Mushrooms are much better!
The sciencer part comes from Time Wheel with an article, One Trip With Magic Mushroom Can Make You Permanently More Open, Study Finds. Read it for the science but check these pics!
Art by Alex Grey
It's an unusual vision to conjure Caveman Bubba trippin' his brains out but why not as we eat everything and likely always have. We could argue about whether Caveman Bubba is the ancient Cro-Magnon or the one from about forty-thousand years ago when we seem to have developed self-awareness but the same likelihood is true in either case.
We have known about drugs for a long, long time. It's extraordinary that after so many millennia we still don't seem to deal with them or understand them very well, probably because many aren't so omnivorous anymore. It's still true that you are what you eat, after all.
Here at the Rockhouse we have eaten loads of magic mushrooms and they have left me with a fried brain and hopelessly addicted (larfs). The last time was only a few years ago and each time is a privilege for the awareness it imparts.
Ted Cruz Dishes It Out But the Pussywhipped Sissyboy Can't Take It
Make America Awesome is the super PAC which presented the advertising all over Utah with images of Donald Trump's wife, Melania, posing nude, I believe for GQ magazine. The magazine doesn't exactly have a reputation for salacious wickedness and, frankly, doesn't have a reputation for much of anything but we seriously doubt the pic was pornographic.
CNN in typical gravy-sucking position said 'Ted Cruz has no connection with Make America Awesome.' Sure he doesn't. (CNN: Cruz on Trump's attacks on his wife: 'Leave Heidi the hell alone')
How Cruz discovered the unmitigated gall to accuse Trump of cowardice after pulling a cheap and gutless stunt like that is difficult to fathom when he shows no balls for anything else.
It will take more than a tube of Brylcreem grease borrowed from Ronald Reagan to defeat Donald Trump. A little dab won't do you because we need a President and don't need a Shark.
Note: five points if you get the reference.
Ted Cruz has consistently managed to pull the election campaign into the gutter, even more relentlessly than Donald Trump with his schlong and Hillary Clinton with her counter-schlong responses. That there are such shabby candidates involved should mortify anyone in the country but instead they get tumultuous applause and such is the state of the decadence in the country.
(Ed: where the hell does a pot-smoking, unemployed, deadbeat freak get off calling anyone decadent?)
I don't steal, I don't lie, and fuck you very much.
My usual response to things of that nature goes something like this:
Shouldn't cheese be purple so we feel royal when we eat it?
Perhaps then you are equipped for this game and understand why the Kings and the Jokers have no noses.

Pulling Back on Even Faint Support for Donald Trump
While Donald Trump has impressive views regarding NATO, he has also recently said he will consider using nuclear weapons in the Middle East. These words must never be spoken and definitely not by a political or military leader. Sure, they do it sometimes but we don't put up with it for long, do we.
So let's roll this back to the original position of Bernie Sanders vs Donald Trump in the debates for the Presidency. I have no doubt Bernie Sanders is easily capable of slicing and dicing him whereas I'm not at all convinced Hillary Clinton can do it because smug leers, bad manners, and screaming like a fishwife won't be sufficient to take the day.
We don't see Ted Cruz in the game because he has nothing of any substance except pictures of Trump's wife and name-calling, all he has ever done. That smug and smarmy look of his is likely enough to guarantee he never goes anywhere.
It's a strong belief that a Clinton vs Trump contest is one which Donald Trump will win. The DNC is welcome to bring that cancer down on itself but I will have no part of it. When they have such a fervent wish to destroy all that's left of the Democratic Party, why should I lift a finger to help them do it.
No, it's not a rhetorical question, it's a stupid question and I won't do it.
Right now Clinton is trying to ask Presidential and demands Euros get into the 'action' in the Middle East. We expect more from a President than a wishy-washy remake of the last two administrations. We expect a President to have the vision to see the failures, rise above them, and suggest solutions rather than more of the same. For more of the same, simply hand the country over to the GOP and don't do anything.
Hillary Clinton's most obvious and immediate fail is in her false promises to close any gaps (huge) in the American medical system by extending the Affordable Care Act to cover those who have no insurance (i.e. me). The entire country has fought the public health option with greater fervor than anything else we have ever seen. That can't be handed straight to the GOP because no-one wanted it and selfishness is the high card in America these days. That false promise hasn't the faintest chance of ever coming true and Clinton knows it. She isn't stupid, she's an evil opportunist.

The Rolling Stones Play Havana Tonight!

The Rolling Stones have played gigs which became legends even when Altamont did not turn out to be such a good one. The one in Havana tonight may create the biggest legend of them all since the first ones into a newly-open country are almost always musicians and here are The Rolling Stones to lead the way.
The Queen Bee is just dying to go and she has the means with her airline experience but she could not quite pull it off and she asked, respectfully, of course, if The Rolling Stones might consider delaying the concert for one week so she can be there. She has not as yet had an answer, however.
As to the first Fraser to enter Cuba, we see no question on this matter. I had hoped to pull it off by flying on a UK passport years ago but never quite managed it. Now anyone can do it and this is such a jammin' beautiful thing for freedom about the world. So what if they're Communists, they don't shoot anyone. Let's kick back, smoke one of those cigars, and dig some excellent rock.
"Gimme Shelter," the finest telling of hippie rock there ever was and it still gives me goosebumps.

The Endless Tedium in the White Santa versus the White Savior
The Kelly / Trump wars are so laden in plastic self-righteousness as to be sufficient to supply a Saran Wrap factory for years.
Recently, the Cruz regime used a typically gutless technique (i.e. one of his Super PACs) to present a nude picture of Donald Trump's wife all over Utah. Cruz consequently won Utah by a significant percentage, thereby proving only that Mormons love pornography.
Trump responded with typical bluster and said he will 'spill the beans' on Cruz' wife. That's when the White Santa got into it and said, with her predictable eloquence, "Really?"
Um, yes, really, darlin'. Check yer ego for just one wee moment and discover reality. It does still exist despite Fox News. This time Trump was right. He's still an asshole but he's right nevertheless.

Pain is Bad but Opiate Narcotics are Death
Contrary to what anyone may think, I don't take any pain med stronger than aspirin and that will be administered at 1000 mg to nail the problem once rather than dance with it at lower levels. You cannot take this dose over an extended period or use it commonly but I have found it's the only way to knock out a headache and do it for real. That doesn't change because of the current circumstance.
There is no suspension of the advisory against opiates for pain relief for the sake of personal convenience. The position stands and will remain. And you still cain't knock me down! (larfs)
I may wind up sore and I often do but I won't end up a junkie. Will not happen.
People on FB got kind of shocked with the latest crackup but, for me, this one was kind of nothin'. It's been one surprisingly hurty bitch but the regulars have seen when I've been really, really smashed and this one isn't even in the game for that.
Will totter back to the couch shortly. For some reason the chair is difficult and my whole arm takes the bite from this. That's ok as I go back to "Freefall" and it's a surprisingly low-tech sci-fi story which isn't going all too well for humankind with not much left of the book. It's looking kind of good for the Snouts but we shall see how this resolves. No review as yet except it's a surprising twist to see Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle rejecting extreme science.
