As to the Show on Monday

A Bit of Temporary Scramblement

Writing the reports on the Circus isn't just some task I perform to suck up with Cat.  They are something I can give to everyone and I like that.  The people in the reports become kind of like kids and it's massively cool to see them pushing themselves beyond what they thought were their limits.

But sometimes they fuck up.

This has been bothering me since Monday night as I like the performers there or I wouldn't bother writing anything.

Last night DD, Michi Renoir, and Reis and Aldo really took the jams to the outer regions of space but that isn't what happened the night before and everything is very muddled in my thinking.  How can I write of one and also write of the other.  It's like trying to think inside a pachinko machine.

A pachinko machine is like a pinball machine except infinitely more annoying.  A great many little steel balls are hurled into the body of it and they bounce off the embedded pins as they fall to the bottom.  The noise is like a crack-crazed woodpecker with a heavy metal beak.

Sex and Music - They Don't Teach That in School

Putin has stayed very cool with Ukraine, apparently satisfied with leaving Obama to make a fool of himself ... BUT ... bring out a chick singer with a beard and Ivan goes berserk.  Look at their Western decadence ... look at their depravity ... this needs an international incident.  Some cabinet minster from Moscow was going on about this.

So, let's get this straight, Vladimir. You can stay cool when neoNazis get way out of hand ... BUT ... a chick with a beard flips your vodka-soaked mind.

From this we can conclude that Russkis don't do any better job of teaching sex education than is done in the U.S.  It's odd that Euros, generally, are much better at it although there was a lot of outrage over sex-based and race-based badgering from within Europe toward Conchita Wurst with people 'acting like Americans.'

Who is the most judgmental isn't the most interesting as what intrigues me is how it got that way and why it stays that way.  Europe is generally cooler about it than anywhere else ... so ... what's the difference.

From my own experience, there was no sex education from anywhere.  Sam Kinison reminds of the glory of the teen years:  don't think your girlfriend is going to help.  She won't say a fuckin' word.  You have to figure this out yourself, cowboy.  So listen to a few lessons from Sam ...  (you'll need to get to get his CDs to hear the lessons.  One of them involves the alphabet.  Heed it well.)

Here is more sex education than you will get in every American school combined:

"Jesus Christ, am I being licked or weatherproofed!" - Sam Kinison

In general, the sex education that outrages people so much in U.S. is just the mechanical aspect as to what parts go into what other parts.  If you try to teach any more than that then the teachers get the PTA and al Qaeda coming down on them.  This is unfortunate as the kids never learn anything about socialization.  The protestors said they would be taught in the home and the church ... but that doesn't happen either.

You can see gobs of non-queers all over the place.  They're riddled with more neurosis than the Cuckoo's Nest because they don't know what they want to be and no-one helps them understand.  For most kids, it's hard enough figuring if you want to make music professionally (i.e. starve) but a subset of kids don't even know who they want to be fucking.  Some of them figure it out but a good many of the others don't so they turn violent and start shooting.

And they don't teach music either.  Two of the things that wound up being highly-interesting my life or just about anyone's were not taught at all.  They did teach "Silas Marner," tho.  I'm grateful for that.

Later in high school one can join the school band.  But that means going to a lot of football games ... well.  As I had previously discovered, the girls were in French class so that was important toward the other aspect of my non-education.  This was too early to even dream of affording an instrument so there was only one other answer:  get laid as soon as possible.

Underlying the madness regarding gayness seems some type of thinking that some people (e.g. the Mothmen?) are teaching kids to be gay.  See above about not being taught anything in school about sex, gay or straight.  It's not clear where this thinking comes but failure to address the needs of these kids is not likely to change any time soon because, all together now, effecting change in America is like teaching a pig to square dance.

I don't particularly care about gay issues and I don't particularly like children except to watch them sometimes.  I do care about people fuckin' with people because they're different and this is why I keep coming back to such things.  Like Redd Foxx said, "If there were blue people, some asshole would hate them."

Abby Martin Gets Pointless (video)

Abby Martin didn't go to Russia Today because some creepy guys in trench coats lured her into it.  Prior to RT she had been covering the OWS presence in Oakland and she was frustrated that American media was doing such a poor job of it.  Russia didn't suck her into anything, America drove her away ... YET ... she speaks more fervently for America than a whole roomful of plastic freaks with the requisite Chinese-made American flags on the lapels of their cheap suits.

In America the most dangerous people and the greatest threat to freedom come from the patriots.  That's nothing new as, throughout history, it has always been this way.  Abby Martin has never called herself a patriot but she has the real dedication to truth that patriots will never touch.  Plus she talks about bisexuality.  Yah, and now you want to watch ... you sick fuck.

Cats, Robert Goulet trashes "Memory" and a bad pic

Midnight (cough)
not a sound (cough) from the pavement
(cough)

Things we learned from Robert Goulet: it's a bad idea to go on "The Tonight Show" ... when you're drunk ... and don't know the words to the song ... particularly if that song is "Memory."

And the real reason for any interest in "Cats" tonight:

Proof the cats were not murdered and have survived the surgery in good shape.

"B E A U T Y - Rino Stefano Tagliafierro" (video)

Exquisite.

I have no idea which artists are featured but it has kind of a Baroque feel, maybe.  It's definitely beautiful.

It's Bloody 'ot in Texas

The bad cold days are gone and now the steamy hot days are here.  The balmy lovey Spring days were notably absent.  Crocus is too sissy for Texas anyway.

A bath seemed a good solution to 32C and I started drawing one.

Yevette asked if she could put some natural ingredients into the water.  One she suggested was Epsom Salt.  I don't know what it does but it sounds like something that has to do with not having enough fiber in one's diet.  I declined but she was determined as she said it was good to protect against fire ants and the NSA reading your brainwaves while you sleep.  Of course then I agreed as I hate it when the NSA reads my brainwaves.

It takes a while to fill the tub and when I came back I could smell it before I even got to the room.  I could pick out lime and peppermint which don't make together an entirely bad smell ... but there were other smells of a more arcane nature and purpose.  I asked her if there was anything radioactive in the water and she assured me there was not.

Yevette withdrew and then I got myself ready for a nice bath ... when I noticed a slick feeling on my hands and thought, hmmm, this is unusual.  Then I realized I was slick all over and I called out to Yevette, "What the fuck did you put in this water, my friend?"

She told me she had used a natural bath oil.  I advised her this was not a healthful bath oil but rather a BP oil spill and I was going to get the hell out of it.  She said, no, no, no, don't waste it.  In my view it was already wasted and I just wanted to get it off.

Yevette said she might have used too much.  I quickly agreed and said if she had used any more of it then there would be dead otters and sea birds in there.

Some of you are concerned about ending experimentation on animals and that's very good but my first priority is ending experimentation on humans, specifically me.

"Immer Einfach" - Making It a Song (mostly English)

The overall theme of child abuse around the world is the biggest part of the song / poem but there's also that none of this would be happening if not for the satanic flow of wealth around the world.  When someone can live in incredible luxury with the full knowledge that children die of starvation in the desert, it shows an appalling bankruptcy of conscience and it's commonplace.  When schoolgirls are kidnapped and it becomes a media sideshow event, people will be interested for as long as it's spectacular and then they will forget about it as quickly as flight MH-370.

The music for this has been through three incarnations and of course this is Cat Symphony No. 4 but this one needs its own name.  I've included the poem again as I have changed some of it, not for content but for wording and a bit more structure.  That pushes it over to questions of how each segment of the poem maps to the segments of the music and that will be an experiment for later today.

Two are sleeping just now so music won't be happening for a while yet.  I was going to play online yesterday but that wasn't possible.  The next scheduled show is on Thursday.

Meanwhile, on a Voodoo kind of theme, he wrote a song about Flight MH-370 and he was genuinely anguished over what had happened ... but the story falls from favor and the song probably fades with it.  This is one hell of a damn shame as it was a beautiful piece of music very powerfully expressed.  The same hazard exists with anything about the children but only if I take a limited view of the problem.  When twenty-thousand kids die every year from poverty, war, hunger, etc, this isn't a theme that will lose relevance any time soon although nothing would make me happier than if it did.

Some of this is in German and that's specifically because of the sound and the clarity.  I like how the sounds roll and 'nur in Stille sind wir besiegt' is delicious to me.  There is some thought to writing the whole thing in German but I'm not strong enough with the language to do justice to what I want to say.  It's ok on a limited basis but not for the whole thing.

Nur in Stille sind wir besiegt. (Only in silence are we defeated)
Die Wahrheit ist immer einfach. (The Truth is always simple)
Sie wussten die ganze Zeit. (You have known the whole time)
Frieden ist der einzige Weg. (Peace is the only way)

People talk of revolution
and we'll descend a thousand years.
The only hope is evolution
but people are buried in their fears.
They can't get breath for screaming,
they feel terror for their lives,
no-one is there to help them
and so they slowly die.

The only problem comes from money;
those who have it want it all.
There's nothing in their souls to stop them
only diamonds hold their thrall.
So many in the world are starving,
and the rich can plainly see,
but they scarcely do a thing to help them,
when it's so easy to set them free.

Children die by thousands,
every day and every way,
and now it's a massive human problem
when Facebook starts to say,
God help us, save the children,
before this gets much worse.
There are now some kidnapped schoolgirls,
send the Army, send a hearse.

Children die from hunger,
from poverty,
from sickness
and from killing.

Twenty thousand died this day,
tomorrow it will be worse.

So it goes in today's high drama,
by God, let's save those kids,
but spare me the hysterics,
I've seen the ones you missed.
They find unexploded bombs,
they lose their legs to mines.
The armies left behind so much,
and kids find it all the time.

Wars, whores, fops, and boors,
in their lives only money grows.
Why they need so much for so little
is only theirs to know.
It's not about you, darlin',
you aren't in this game.
You could give everything you have
and it would still come out the same.

It's those in the far towers
who take it all as their own.
They are the real villains
and so many times it's been shown.
What you'll do to close those towers,
is something I'll never know,
but you have run right out of choices
and you must make it so.

Children die from hunger,
from poverty,
from sickness
and from killing.

Twenty thousand died this day,
tomorrow it will be worse.

You want it to change through some magic,
as if there's still a chance for Tinkerbell,
so make well that wish by the starlight
else we are surely bound for hell.

Nur in Stille sind wir besiegt. (Only in silence are we defeated)
Die Wahrheit ist immer einfach. (The Truth is always simple)
Sie wussten die ganze Zeit. (You have known the whole time)
Frieden ist der einzige Weg. (Peace is the only way)

War Child International - They work for children every day not just when there's a headline on CNN

Frank Phillips, ex-Knoxville Cop, Scum of the Earth, Pardoned by J.J. Jones

There are some who embarrass the police department and others who disgrace it.  Frank Phillips takes it all the way to the point of making it understandable how easy it was to get German prison camp guards to do what they did.

Phillips strangled a kid in handcuffs and then slapped him further after he was unconscious.  There are pictures of every stage of it along with several other cops watching him do it.  (Mail Online:  Tennessee sheriff's deputy is FIRED after he was caught on camera choking an unresisting college student until he passed out)

The consequence to Phillips for doing this:  nothing.  At the time it was said he was fired by Sheriff JJ Jones but this was bullshit too.  Instead, Jones put 'Other' as the reason for termination (as opposed to 'terminated for cause,' etc) and the result is that Phillips will retire with full benefits.  (WBIR: Deputy fired for using excessive force takes deferred retirement)

This isn't a cop, it's not even a human being.

Social Anomie in the Brave New World

Apart from it not being particularly brave and there's nothing particularly new, at least one can still be alienated by the world.  I can't as I haven't for a long time considered myself to belong to it anyway and have been handed ample evidence along the way that I'm not.

However, you all are tremendously alienated.  You believe, at least to some extent, in the system but you see the evidence piled up everywhere that it doesn't work.  Cognitive dissonance sets in and the next thought becomes one of finding a scapegoat.  If you can't fix a problem, you can at least get some fun out of beating up some Mexicans.

As you see with the coverage of the story of the kidnapped girls, CNN is already dropping it off the headlines and pretty soon people will forget about it.  You can get pissed off with me for predicting that if you like but that's not likely to solve anything.  War Child is real and Cat has been working with them for years.  Neither she nor War Child are going to stop after the headlines go away.

Someone ran a graphic a little while ago that showed Jeff Foxworthy his experience with God trumps that of anyone else.  I don't know what this is supposed to mean.  Maybe he asks God to help him write jokes about a hundred and one things to do with rednecks.  He also said something about singing but I hope he doesn't.

Education was mentioned along with how Denmark not only pays for the college educations for its kids, it also gives them the equivalent of a $900 US stipend while they are in school.  When asked how they did this I replied that Denmark doesn't have a military that costs more than the next fifteen countries combined.  The response was, "Oh, taxes."

Apparently that dismisses everything.  I don't hear anyone calling for a radical review of where the Pentagon sends the unbelievable amount of money given to it.  They say they will be ready for an audit in 2017 but there are predictions already they will not be ready for it.  Even given three years to prepare, they cannot clean their books ... but the problem, obviously, is illegal immigration.

Many conservatives are encouraging the idea that the financial system will collapse and some of these estimations come from people who well understand such things (i.e. as opposed to CNN pundits).  It seems to me there is a purpose in saying the system will collapse as it discourages anyone else and they give up.  Don't try as you will only fail.  Even if your piffling change is accepted it still won't matter as the whole system will collapse anyway.  That kind of defeatism serves their purpose as they get people more scared and continue shifting the country more to the right.

The politics of tax-cutting works well as dropping the rate of the tax on the rich has a time bomb effect.  It takes a while for the country's borrowing to outstrip whatever surplus existed at the time of the cut and it's only after that when things will start going down the toilet.  Usually the President who did it is long gone by then.  Harding did it ... and the market crashed in 1929.  Roosevelt brought the rate back up again ... and America enjoyed the greatest period of prosperity in its history.  Then Reagan did it ... and the S&Ls crashed.  Then Bush did it ... and everything else crashed.  As we've seen, Obama hasn't had the backbone to do anything about it and the decline continues.

They say, yah, yah, the Dow Jones is way up from how it was under Bush.  But, so what, that was inevitable after how far down Bush had run the country.  The people most afraid of tax cuts are the ones who have worked hard and saved up a million or two in 401K, IRA, or whatever.  They're terrified the state will come to tax that money and conceivably it might but it's not what I mean.  The people who are most afraid are the ones who serve only as a meat shield for the ones who have really raped the financial world and the rapists are the ones who need the attention.

America at one time led the world but now it struggles to keep up.  If anyone is looking for applause, don't come to me.

Voodoo at the Crossroads at Cat's Art MusikCircus

Yesterday was will filled such ferocious suckness that you would be left weeping and wailing were I to tell it ... unless you're on Facebook and then it would be one story like that among many and really all anyone wants to see are the cat videos anyway.

So let's condense that down to feeling pretty awful but Cat had troubles too and, all together now, the show must go on.  Cat got her stuff working just in time for the show and things started to turn around.

Part of it was obviously that the medicine was starting to work but the rest of it was magic from the Circus.

Left to right:  Medora Chevalier, Cat Boucher and Silas Scarborough, Voodoo Shilton, Sister Julie the Poet
(I'm not sure who the others are.  No, Medora did not ask me to include her.  I just thought it would be cute.)

The Crossroads represent one of the biggest ideas in music, that you can make a deal with the Devil to be a better musician but you will owe him your soul for eternity if you do it.

What the Crossroads are to Voodoo isn't something he says specifically but maybe we can get some idea from his "Crossroads" song.  It's dedicated to John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucia, and Al DiMeola and their recordings together.  We know de Lucia is one of Voodoo's idols and deservedly as those three are acknowledged the Ultimate Wizards of Master Guitarists.

Sister Julie thought I was showing off in mentioning the names of these guitarists in chat but that really wasn't true at all.  I'm not getting defensive, it's just something to know that those three were huge within a subset of the music audience.  Within it they were gods but outside of it they weren't known too much.  Voodoo isn't the only one who has worshipped them for quite some time.

So what is Voodoo's deal with the devil.  He didn't choose to cover a song the three guitarists had recorded but rather he recorded in his interpretation of the style of three guitarists.  The hip New York reaction is, oh, it's derivative crap but that makes no sense to me as everything is derivative of something else or nothing would ever evolve.  What I heard was faithful to a style but I didn't hear anything imitative so this doesn't look like a deal with the Devil.

(Ed:  you're not going to tell us about his deal with the Devil, are you?)

Nope.  I have no idea of any deal or if he ever even made one.  The point is not about any deal Voodoo has made but rather it's about deals you have made.

While cat videos are the acknowledged Worst Thing on the Internet, the next after that is white guys in chairs playing guitars ... but ... this is a special circumstance.  Imagine the video if Voodoo were to record one in which he is playing up to three guitar parts simultaneously.  You would be able to see his fingers for whichever part he plays just now but there would also be his 'ghost fingers' playing the parts he has already got going in the looper.  I think that would be pretty cool and highly mystical to watch.

Again it's a privilege to hear Voodoo play as it's inspirational seeing his motivation to push beyond his own limits.  Van Gogh said, "I'm always doing things I don't know how to do so I can learn how to do them."

You can find more on Voodoo Shilton's Facebook page and you can find more about the Circus on the Cat's Art MusikCircus page.

Sonya Jevette Wobbles Cat's Art MusikCircus

Left to right:  Medora Chevalier, Sonya Jevette, Silas Scarborough, Cat Boucher at Cat's Art MusikCircus

Nobody does Wobbly, Wobbly better than Sonya Jevette and every time she does the "Big Girls" song she has people on-stage wobbling right along with it.  I've written about it before but it's always cool as you rarely have situations in which people know the words to your original songs and are typing them out in chat while you sing them.  This is how you harmonize in Second Life, right.  What's cool is that you can.

Medora said she wanted to be in the blog so ok, girl, here you go!

What Medora shows us is that big girls need to be able to hold their beer ... a lot of it.  I couldn't catch a shot of the bubble gum and that's a shame as what says disco love more than beer and bubble gum!

BIG GIRLS ...
KNOW HOW TO SHOOT SOME POOL!

There's a vulnerability in Sonya that's very tender and makes you love her all the more.  All the songs she sang last night were original and in hearing them you believe every word.  It's not just that she sings a song and it's pretty as each word from it is something she has lived and you can feel it in how she gives it to you.  She's a big girl making psychedelic soul music but in the center is a special tender heart.

There is a song contest which will be judged, I think, this week-end and we would like to send our best luck to Sonya in the hope she will win it.  The lady deserves, she has worked so hard.  In fact, last night she mentioned going down to Houston to play some gigs ... and she got stuck there for a week because the transmission on her car broke and there was nothing she could do.

You can find much more about Sonya Jevette on her Web site and you can join Cat's Art MusikCircus group on Facebook to learn about all the performers.
