The Rolling Stones Play Havana Tonight!

The Rolling Stones have played gigs which became legends even when Altamont did not turn out to be such a good one.  The one in Havana tonight may create the biggest legend of them all since the first ones into a newly-open country are almost always musicians and here are The Rolling Stones to lead the way.

The Queen Bee is just dying to go and she has the means with her airline experience but she could not quite pull it off and she asked, respectfully, of course, if The Rolling Stones might consider delaying the concert for one week so she can be there.  She has not as yet had an answer, however.

As to the first Fraser to enter Cuba, we see no question on this matter.  I had hoped to pull it off by flying on a UK passport years ago but never quite managed it.  Now anyone can do it and this is such a jammin' beautiful thing for freedom about the world.  So what if they're Communists, they don't shoot anyone.  Let's kick back, smoke one of those cigars, and dig some excellent rock.

"Gimme Shelter," the finest telling of hippie rock there ever was and it still gives me goosebumps.

Why is such an impoverished country such a destination station. I can name 30 islands in the area that would be far more worthy of a visit.
Have fun with being first

Ela, ela! Being the first has high value in many cases! I think you know already I love one of those islands in particular, Aruba, but that wouldn't change my interest in attending this concert. In the view here at the Rockhouse, it will be magnificent!

It will be on On Demand TV in no time

You have been to see the Stones so you damn sure they are far far too big for television! Sure they will be there but that ain't live.

Most people going to a Stones concert are watching them on TV screens at the event anyway.

You have been to more than one and know it's so much more!

But I was always in the front several rows.
Learned from Laughing Gecko how to always be up front without without a ticket
Ask him about hiding in the catwalks for a Clapton Santana concert

That's some advanced concerteering! It would be cool to hear that story as I never tried that stunt. My favorite for crashing concerts was with Cadillac Man when we saw Blood, Sweat and Tears. The art of it was there was no art of it. We were drunk as monkeys and just walked straight in there. No-one said a word!

Times were a'different back then!

I do remember that Clapton / Santana concert and us thinking this would be the jam of the century but it kind of petered out and neither of us really got why. That was just icing on concerts which were ultra cool anyway, tho. In the catwalks ... wowzer ... I'm impressed!

Saw Linda Ronstadt at Wilson Auditorium the same way. No way to afford the $5 or whatever for a ticket. Just walking by and thought why not try. Wilson held about 500+ as I recall. The best was Janis Joplin at Eden Park. She wasn't scheduled, just showed up. She was doing another concert in town that people paid big dollars to see. Those were the days when Janis said it best - " I can't go to sleep man, I might miss a party."

I remember that at Eden Park and I saw her down there near the Gazebo because WEBN was doing a simulcast for SummerFair from there. After they canceled her show, she figured she would try to do it via WEBN but that part didn't work out. She was SO damn cool!

I was in driving around the circle or crawling as it was when SummerFair was happening so I couldn't get out to try to meet her but even so it was so damn cool just to see her there. She wasn't some distant Rock Goddess but rather was right there with the people. I'm diggin' that to this day!

I thought it was a stretch to see the Stones do a full on concert on such short notice. But this culminated the Latina America tour that just ended days before.
So the entire tour set up was in the area anyway

Still loving the coolness of it in part for it showing the boys still have the coolness to react to changing circumstances even in the middle of a world tour. Maybe it's not such a big deal for big shots but it's sure impressive to see!
