Option Y is returning to Cat's MusikCircus for dates on April 3 & 17 at 1:00 pm SLT / 10 pm Central Euro. These are big nights because Option Y can't keep a regular schedule and, for my taste, that helps keep the act exciting.
Option Y is spectacular prog rock goodness but they're not doing it with mirrors, even if it may seem so, as there are three, maybe more, musicians in the band and they play together in RL so they do it the same way in SL. This is the same Option Y you can catch on the road in New England but now you can hear them at Cat's MusikCircus.
This reviewer doesn't get giddy over many but it's good band and worth my time to listen whenever I can be there. Sometimes first rate musicians seem they may be giving a lesson in music but Option Y gives a lesson in where music goes and if you want to pick up a music lesson, just listen. Making complex music attractive is one of life's high arts and Option Y is primo at it.
Note: absolutely don't take that as a back-handed shot at Voodoo Shilton whom I have often called brilliantly-skilled but in a much different African voodoo jazz of his own invention. It's the organicity he brings to his jazz which is his way of going out where Option Y goes and you're most pleased to accompany either act.
Sometimes jazz can get so technical it makes your teeth itch and the musical gift is being able to make it approachable by mortals such as we.
