Option Y played again at Cat's Art MusikCircus tonight and there are three people in the band but I'm not entirely sure what each one does because it changes. StubbyJack plays a Stratocaster with a white body and a rosewood neck, just like one I played for many years, so right away they bounce up in coolness with me. They're heavy with synth but they still like to get funky with the guitar.
The title gives you an idea what to expect in the song but don't let it characterize the overall sound of the band because their sound is much more diverse than that. They may be largely electronic but in this one they can get just as nasty as they want to be.
Take it away, Option Y:
There are more Option Y videos on YouTube and you might want to explore as they do some excellent arrangements. They play way out on the edge but they don't lose focus on the importance of melody, that they're making a song. When there is such high-technology in the equipment, it's ridiculously easy to lose the humanity of the music but Option Y holds their focus and keeps it alive.
