"Big Ass Ham" Gets Big Funnies in Reviews

The Big Ass Ham (link to video) in a subsequent article ("Silas and a Big Ass Ham") seems from the title to be more tasteless than it really is ... which isn't really that tasteless at all.

It got big laughs from Cat and from Yevette so that's a smile and a win for me.

It's NSFW for language but there's not that much of it.  Amazingly enough, this one won't ruin your children.

So, if you might have skipped it because of the title, you may want to try it anyway.  Someday I may learn to be a little less smart ass about titles.  Someday that could happen.  Someday.

What it makes me wonder is toward a cover song, specifically an Elvis cover song.  There's one tiny problem with covering Elvis in front of Cat:  death.

However ... how about covering Elvis with a Barry White voice from the LiveFX.  Now we're into some seriously creepy territory but there might be some deranged coolness in it.  This might make violation of the Elvis rule acceptable.  Or it would sound like one of those annoying movies based on cartoons ... except for Groot who was cool.

There was experimentation with the harmonizer since then as I wanted to know how that would work out with "Colorful" and note this is without pitch correction.  Whatever note I sing will get a digital harmony that's a third or a fifth above or below it ... but that doesn't mean it's on-key unless it was on-key to start.  You could use harmonization with pitch correction but that goes to a world of musical horror that's full of dolls that work by pulling strings on them.

As to general musical situation, the vocal level going into the computer needs to be tested further to see if it's adequate for live as in when other instruments active too.  This hasn't been validated in months and knobs magically change themselves over time.  It's a problem physicists have yet to solve.  They can find a Higg's Boson, notwithstanding the fact they have no idea what to do with it, but they can't solve how knobs mysteriously change themselves.

This is loose but tomorrow might be a good time to sound check in SL as there's a short schedule for the evening.  We'll see.
