The latest rationale for resisting a deal on management of nuclear reactors in Iran is they might make a nuclear weapon and also make a way to deliver it to Israel so a pre-emptive strike is in order to prevent them from doing that even though they are not doing it now. Apparently it goes past the GOP the purpose of a deal with Iran is to provide alternatives to nuclear weapons development.
The last time we saw this type of logic was in Salem, Massachusetts, when they hanged all the witches. Contrary to various stories, they didn't burn them as it was the preference of good Puritans to hang witches.
The easiest way to resolve the situation with Iran to the satisfaction of Republicans is in going back to the good old days. Bring back the dunking machine so the Ayatollah or whomever runs Iran can be dunked until he gives us the truth or he drowns. Naturally, the truth is he builds nuclear weapons so then we can hang him. Welcome to Salem.
Not surprisingly, the GOP spends most of its time in the movies but this situation is a rare example of them branching away from "Rambo" movies. This time they go with "Minority Report" and they play Tom Cruise as the cop who prosecutes 'pre-criminals' (i.e. they haven't done the crime yet but he knows they will).
A pre-emptive strike is police work if America does it but is an act of terrorism if anyone else in the world does it.
