From the Land Which Gave You Bubble Yum Gum with Spider Eggs

The Bubble Yum prank is one of the best America can offer since millions of kids became convinced Bubble Yum gum contains spider eggs.  It even got to the point of Bubble Yum taking out a full page ad in the New York Times to state emphatically and most amusingly Bubble Yum really doesn't contain spider eggs ... at least not anymore.  (Urban Legends:  Urban Legends: Bubble Yum Contains Spider Eggs!)

The reference article in Urban Legends is ever so helpful and reminds us of the nutritional value of eating insects including, presumably, spider eggs:

Dung Beetle: 17.2g protein, 30.9mg calcium, 7.7 mg iron
Cricket: 12.9g protein, 75.8 mg calcium, 9.5 mg iron
Grasshopper: 20.6g protein, 35.2mg calcium, 5.0mg iron

So, now you know.  Do keep in mind you go to Hell for killing a cricket although probably not for Dung Beetles.  We're not sure even Walt Disney could make a Dung Beetle cool as Jiminy Dung Beetle isn't working for us.

Note: we don't want to go off on a dissertation about it but Dung Beetles perform a vital role and you may take some OCD enlightenment in learning of how they do what they do.  For the wheels within wheels in biology and life, Dung Beetles provide an exceptional example of it.  You may be surprised at the fascination you may find in learning about a shit-eating bug.  (WIKI: Dung Beetle)

But ... that isn't the story this morning as that prank was impressive but a new one is in-play and the spider eggs were amusing but this one qualifies as a thigh slapper although Burger King is probably not too amused by it.

Someone has been calling up Burger King fast-food restaurants and advising them 'this is the Fire Department and your building is over-pressurized.  Without relieving that pressure, it may explode.  Therefore you need to break all the windows.'

Apparently that has worked three times now in different cities and here is the latest, complete with video to show the window breakers in front of a mystified crew of potential fast-food consumers.  (Yahoo News: Burger King employees were tricked into breaking all their store's windows. Again.)

We're just trying to imagine the ad Burger King will run in the New York Times to defend against this one ... and how many minimum wage workers will actually read it (i.e. zero).
