The reason for a second article is maybe you thought the first reference was a hoax but it sure does not appear to be one or someone paid some serious jingle for a Hollywood cop to play the part.
It's tempting to chalk this up entirely to dumb asses but you only need to convince people you are some kind of authority figure and they will do just about anything. That drags the Milgram experiments back into it but obedience is a fascinating thing. It will make people do things when every instinct tells them not to do them. (WIKI: Milgram Experiment)
The cop is right about it being a terror threat even when the result is ludicrous. Fear is part of the motivation and maybe the fear gives someone a heart attack.
Sure I'm raining on it as seeing it now is ludicrously funny but the stunt will probably be copied since it's been done before and sooner or later someone is going to get hurt.
