Guaranteed Dude Rating

We're not sure if this lunatic will make it as Dude of All Time but dudes don't put up with bullshit competitions of that nature anyway.  Busted for 171 mph / 275 kph and zero casualties.  Behold the Dudeness.  (Fox:  Minnesota speeder caught doing 171 mph on Highway 61)

Here's the beauty part as the car was a Camaro and it looks, apart from color, quite a bit like Lotho's rod so likely that endears it to his heart but we only have one simple question:  wtf kind of Camaro was this guy driving??  Do they seriously make a stock model which runs that fast??

Update:

The Camaro 1SS has a 455 horsepower, 6.2 liter V-8 engine. Car and Driver magazine says the car will do 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, 0-100 mph in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of about 160 mph.  (Duluth News Tribune: Camaro clocked at 171 mph on Highway 61)

It's only got about 600 hp.  Doc builds motors of 700+ hp and he just does it for amusement.  He calls them trash cars and that means something to people in the know with such things.

I think his last was a '67 GTO and it looked perfectly stock unless you looked closely.  He beefed it out to 700+ hp plus whatever other demonics to suspension, tires, etc.  For some reason that makes it a trash car??  Unknown how that goes but maybe it's the same as calling something 'sick' means it's really great.

He built out a Chevy II, sixties also, and this one was so bad ass it needed wrinkle slicks.  I'm highly sure it made ten second quarter mile runs but I'm not sure if it ever cracked through to lower.  He kind of likes cars, see.

Note:  there's a story which Doc probably won't like too much but it's one from the class of the unbelievable and it goes for the first test run of the car.  Nooooo, that didn't really happen??  Um, yeah, I guess it did.

There's a twisted car note from Ford as they will be offering their Ford GT for, get this, $400,000 and they will only sell them to a pre-selected group of richie ne'er-do-wells.  The sucky thing about this beyond the money is Ford GT was the 1-2-3 car at Le Mans which had the GT40 identifier but were known to Ford as the Ford GT project.  To roll out a Ford GT now is kind of a slap to Carrol Shelby and the damn thing looks like a Lamborrari.  It also doesn't have much more power than the Camaro up top.

This one just looks like twenty other modern high-performance sports cars.  Add a bit of Ferrari curves and a bit of Lamborghini ugly and ... presto ... send it off to the 3D printer.

The car just strikes me the same as architects who relentlessly build the same thing ... let's try this shocker and build another monster skyscraper.  Gasp.  Fucking gasp, huh (larfs).

For their Freedom Tower, the architects went from oblong skyscrapers to a pointy one.  Wow.  Evolution in action.  Architects haven't been a whole lot of fun lately.

That must be a mid-engine design and that's probably a groove for handling but overall it shows a lot of sameness to the current lot of ultra fasters.  Once you get to that kind of speed there's probably not a whole lot of freedom for design.  Airflow becomes paramount and the dynamics are the same for any car.

The big dawg Lambo doesn't cost much less than this.  So then I wonder, of the people who can afford to buy these cars how many are actually qualified to drive them at anywhere near their capabilities.  If they are not then what do they do with them?  Send them to Hollywood??

A new big dawg in NASCAR is only eighteen or nineteen years old.  Where should this kid find half a million dollars for a car to race.  Sure his team has the sponsors and can spend the big bucks now but he's had the skills to drive the high power equipment for some time.  So what if some no-talent rich bitch can afford the cruise when the one who can drive it best couldn't even dream of it.  Makes no sense whatsoever.

Or say you're racing a BMW on road courses.  Maybe the car cost sixty grand but that's only a fraction of what you put into it to race.  To escalate to GT racing, suddenly you need to pony up for a car which costs seven or eight times as much??  wtf??

It seems this ridiculous inflation of automobile prices may inhibit a whole lot of creativity from the juniors and it's a damn shame when they can light such amazing fires if given the opportunity to do it.

Thats a ZL1 about 625 or so HP. That ZL1 is as close to a production class car as they make for the street. That the upper level shelby cobra are all track ready. And nowadays if no mods are made doesnt void a warranty
