Synthesizing Reality at Cat's Art MusikCircus

Michi Renoir set out to play a gentle set at Cat's Art MusikCircus last night but that doesn't mean quiet and timid, those aren't Maestro Michi's style at all.

As is his way, Michi started improvising and just played on.  His music was gentle but there's always a broad, rich power to it that's very compelling.  It's cool to see more people coming to his show as more people are getting onto what he does.  Rather than me telling you about it, let's see a video from him.  This is a piece deliberately composed in the style of Pink Floyd and he's done quite a beautiful job of it.

The video is "Behind the Sun" and it's an original from Michi Renoir.  Unfortunately, embedding is disabled so here's a direct link to "Behind the Sun."

Astra Ametza found a comfortable place to sit for the show.

So did Damian Mothman and Tilly.

Yevette Nishi preferred to take it to the high-wire.

Michi didn't play continuously for the entire hour as he usually does.  He stopped about halfway and said hello to everyone ... and then played the last half hour without stopping!  His gift for improvisation is really quite remarkable and all the more because he's using a wide variety of voices from the synthesizer while he does it, often at the same time.  He will be at the Second Life London Jam in June and I would dearly love to be there.  Who knows, anything can happen!

Reis and Aldo came to play the second show at the MusikCircus last night and they had a very specific purpose.

On first glance you may wonder how a beautiful woman can sing with a man in a spaceship but come to listen to them and find out!

Reis and Aldo will be performing in a live concert in Barolo, northern Italy, next Friday and you can see their page to read about it.  Note that it's in Italian as most of the people attending will be from Italy.

The purpose of their show last night was a full live rehearsal of what they will perform at Baraolo.  While Aldo's compositions have such power they can burn the circus to the ground, he has a genius for making arrangements that feature Reis' voice in the most fascinating ways.  Most of the time, I have no idea what she is singing from the words as she may be singing in any of four languages but you can so much feel the message they send.

The concert at Barolo will be Reis and Aldo but you can hear Aldo Brizzi's compositions on Aldo's Web site.  In their most recent concert at Grenoble, Reis was not singing but she will be out-front this time.

We wish them the very best for this show but, of course, break a leg!

And Cat and I danced!

Cat is beautiful already but her look has been changing today and I will write another article about that.
