That was the latest I heard. Although Eisenhower was not a Democrat, the party would be proud to take him. He was a huge part of the victory in World War II and brought to the post-war Presidency substantial improvements to America (e.g. the Interstate highway system). What Eisenhower did not bring was reduced taxes on the rich and, as you saw, American prosperity grew through his time and well after ... until it started collapsing under Reagan and finally disintegrated under George Bush. Now Americans don't talk about the future, they just talk about how to increase the minimum wage so they can eat least eat.
Accomplishments of subsequent Republican Presidents:
Richard Nixon - Built nothing of any particular significance
Ronald Reagan - Ditto
George Bush I - No significant improvements of any kind
George Bush II - Ditto - He said he loves America as much as the others ... but none of them did anything to improve it.
I don't like Obama but at least he tried to fix the roads. The GOP didn't even do that.
