After Hillary Clinton so egregiously betrayed Bernie Sanders, he still feels loyalty to a failed standard and acclaims the most progressive platform for the Democrats in years. You know that's bloody rubbish but he's bound by fifty years of service within the system which leaves him chained to supporting something with no substance. It's a classic demonstration of the Illusion of Gravity, the more solid something seems the faster it can fall apart.
It seemed Obama had a progressive platform as well and I had seen Bill Clinton but thought perhaps he was just a bad job and Obama was real. The last eight years easily proved the falsity of that as he betrayed us with even more facile glibness than Bill Clinton and Obama turned out to be far more of a wanton killer although Clinton wreaked his havoc in a different way by undermining in his Reaganoid way the protections against big banks and, (cough) ironically enough, the depredations executed by such mercenary cancers as he and his wife.
This material invariably alienates the second string but they're hardly necessary except for electing mediocre, second-rate candidates. They don't even have the courage to face their own cowardice and we cannot possibly vilipend such vile and loathsome Gollums sufficiently. Even if Ithaka only finds up with five or six readers, I know these ones are real and have the courage to face reality. Death is easy and it's only hard living in a shithole of a country which regards me as an aphid to be excised from its precious rose bushes. Even in a greatly-weakened state, they will casually slam me to the ground for ignoring their depressing and boring anthem or failing to salute the worst symbol of reckless violence in the world, the American flag.
A national anthem should sing of joy in the people of the country but there is none of that in the "Star Spangled Banner" which is is invariably met with groveling obedience absent of the faintest glimmer of joy, possibly due to the knowledge their will crack your head if you don't do it.
"La Marseilles" calls to the people to stand up against the tyrants and it's a relatively joyful song insofar as it goes with the belief the people can win if we just stand up to the tyrants. The "Star Spangled Banner" only sings about the flag is still there and its biggest acclaim is for the rockets and bombs, a sentiment which has not changed at all since the song was written. The song is not worthy of the effort to stand and should have been burned well over a century ago.
"America the Beautiful" isn't much better and it even acclaims the Pilgrims who were some of the most savage bastards to ever walk this Earth. If you don't believe it then read the fucking history and try not to behave like such an unwashed dolt in future. The song is also riddled with references to God and this section is almost funny.
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine!

Mercy ... from America? Are you fucking serious?? (larfs)
Even better, God is there to make gold, whether real or metaphorical, and the biggest goal is nobility, precisely the thing they ostensibly sought to overturn. After finding their nobleness, their gold will be imbued with religious righteousness. Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen saw that and they were off to the holy swamp rat races.
Note: if you're not puking yet, you should be. This aggressively false, involuntarily satirical pap is enough to get any thinking person upchucking Niagara Falls.
I'm sorry Bernie Sanders since the people of America have devolved quite seriously and they're not ready for you; there's little reason to believe they will ever be ready for you and instead will retain their mongrelized feudalism as long as their increasingly shaky fingers can hold onto it. You see how ISIS makes fools of them since America has no resistance whatsoever to guerrilla war. They're over and they know it but their tyranny is all they know so the tyrants cling with all the greater desperation to the only true love they ever knew: gratuitous murder.
