Reis Alter is from Brazil and Aldo Brizzi is from Italy. They meld rhythms from both countries to make songs that are unique even when they do covers. They travel frequently for recording and that's why they have been away from some time now. They gave their show last night and will be out of town again next week so it will be two weeks before we see them again. As always, it was spectacular.
Reis makes the show and Aldo does the composition. You can see him way in the back on the right, surrounded by all the equipment he uses to make it work. Reis has a quite strong voice but she also sings in a delicate, ethereal way and Aldo weaves his arrangements around her brilliantly. Music and light swirl around her while she sings and it makes an incredible spectacle in both dimensions.
The biggest surprise, beyond the great joy in seeing them come back to perform, was when Aldo mentioned a composition he wrote with Rahunath Manet who plays a sitar. So this one is about Aldo Brizzi and you can learn more about him at his site AldoBrizzi.net
Take it away, Aldo Brizzi and Rahunath Manet! (The video goes through several changes as it goes along. Roll with it.)
