Music Not Politics Christmas Party

When I saw Kaklick Martin would be performing at Throughthesewalls Moody's Music Not Politics Christmas Party, I had to go.  I've known him for a very long time and that doesn't mean we once ran bars in Juarez together back in the Army days but both of us performed regularly at Circe Broom's Luxor and that was an exceptionally good time.

I probably am one of the oldest avatars remaining in Second Life but I'm damn sure not THE oldest as Kaklick Martin has got me by an entire year.  He is at right around eight years now and that makes you very old in a virtual world as virtual years and dog years work about the same.  So I was very surprised to see Kaklick was still performing and I decided I must go to the party.

This was shot at B&B where they made a beautiful Christmas situation.  Kaklick is playing on a small stage to the far left and on the far right you can see what is probably the most famous slogan in Second Life:  Music Not Politics.

Music Not Politics is not about Republicans and Democrats, legalisation of GMO food, or who killed John F Kennedy.  Instead it's about the politics of different music venues as all of them are run by different people and have, erm, quirks.  Musicians don't want quirks, musicians just want to play and this is where Throughthesewalls Moody comes into it as her Music Not Politics group is intended to help get past the quirks and get on to the music.  Apparently it works as she has been doing it quite successfully for years now.

There were half a dozen performers in the Music Not Politics Christmas Party but they were only doing half-hour sets so that gave me an opportunity to see three of them.  Gregg Huet was up first followed by Tom 2.0 and then Kaklick Martin.  It makes no sense to do a critique of their music as all of them were doing seasonal songs for the Christmas vibe rather than trying to make some kind of Miles Davis statement.  And the vibe was very good as a great many people were there, quite a few of whom were musicians.  Here's a shout-out to Marissa Goodlife as well as she has been in Second Life for a very long time as well.  Of course, she is not old, only the male veterans are old.

Thanks to Throughthesewalls Moody for throwing the party and for everything she's done in Second Life over the years.  Fröhliche Weihnachten!
