Camtasia - Screen Video Capture for Mac

Snapz Pro X (Mac) and FRAPS (Windows) have been the standards for video capture from Second Life, online games, etc with Snapz selling for about $70 and FRAPS selling for about $30.  Both products do essentially the same thing in that they capture video from the screen and subsequently save the video to disk for you for subsequent loading to Final Cut X or Sony Vegas.  However, neither of them does any more than that.

Camtasia sells for $100 but it does vastly more than Snapz or FRAPS as it has a competent video editor built into it whereas the other software has no edit function at all.  It even has a built-in function for Chroma Key processing (i.e. green-screen masking).  Camtasia is quite capable of performing functions typically only accessible in Final Cut or Sony Vegas (or similar).  Camtasia can't do the extreme types of things other editors can do but you will be surprised at how much it can do.

There's another substantial difference in that Camtasia runs on Mac or PC while the other products are limited to their respective platforms.  This will almost certainly lead to better product support for Camtasia and more aggressive implementation of features relative to other vendors.

After using all three products at one time or another, my selection without any reservation is for Camtasia.
