The video is titled as BBC but it's actually from PBS. Nevertheless, that's not the label internally and the history is extremely high quality without any particular slanting while it delivers comprehensive coverage.

There were things I didn't know previously about Edward Teller. I knew my ol' Dad reviled him but I did not know the details. From the video I learned Teller was the final sell-out in burying Oppenheimer under the McCarthy Communist witch hunts. It appears most or all of the scientific community reviled him for doing that.
The story gets better on Teller since I also learned from the video Teller was integral in promotion of Reagan's Star Wars missile defense which wound up being the factor which broke down arms reduction talks with Gorbachev.
As a general Scourge of Science and Slutdog of the State, Edward Teller looks like a strong candidate.
The video runs almost two hours so you'll need high interest to carry through it but you may find it interesting to see the reactions to the breakup of the Soviet Union when it was thought that was the end of the Cold War. As we have seen since, it didn't even change that much but they were so optimistic at the time.
The warning at the end feels adequate. It doesn't hammer what comes if Russia and America engage in a nuke war but rather it considers the result if it takes place between India and Pakistan. That alone is sufficient to wreak global catastrophe and surely that's warning enough regarding anything bigger.
I'm on the job, ol' Dad. There's no need to present "The Day After" again since the readers didn't forget it. The ones who need to watch it again are in the Pentagon and Congress. When they talk of surviving a nuke war, they aren't talking about us but rather themselves. They have those underground bunkers so they can emerge like Morlocks years later.
From the video there's also the term they have been trying to sweep away of Mutually-Assured Destruction. It didn't change just because they stopped talking about it. The Doomsday Clock is still only a few minutes before midnight no matter what the posturing we see in Washington and they're the biggest reason for it.
Washington is us so the question remains. When will we make this madness stop.
