Any respect which once existed for John Oliver is almost entirely gone. The hypocritical mud slide he presents in this one is something I would expect from Colbert or others of that lot but not Oliver and now he's swimming in the same sewage.
From the top it's hogwash when Oliver says, "There's strong evidence Russians hacked the DNC."
Where the fuck is that strong evidence, Honest Abe?
As shown in a survey of Russians last week, a third of them love him in a big way when they believe Russia is going better now than in the last century. According to Oliver, that's because they're stupid, intimidated, and/or motivated by a mindless pop song.
This one was pissin' me off more and more as it got increasingly superficial in an algorithmic slashing.
Ed: Oliver was replaced by a 'droid?
It looks that way. See for yourself.
'Getting along better' means doing business without an intervening nuclear war. Hopefully that's clear enough for HBO and John Oliver.
Oliver was singing the statist playbook from the first fucking page:
- don't stop sanctions against Russia
- don't endorse pro-Assad position in Syria
- don't weaken NATO
- don't permit the annexation of Crimea
He might as well have closed by blowing a kiss to the CIA.
Do you even know what the sanctions against Russia are supposed to do. My guess is they think that will make Moscow give Crimea back as if that's any of America's business in the first place. It's hard to tell what purpose the sanctions are supposed to serve when some things are sanctioned and others are not. It's permissible to deal with those evil hacker bastards in some cases but not in others.
Whacking Assad is one more example of America's endless agenda for regime change which has failed every time they have done it. Suddenly Oliver is all for whacking him and isn't he the Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Weakening NATO is not the same as getting the troops to back the fuck off Russia's borders which you know well are being crowded from all possible sides. Obama started it and Trump continues it.
Crimea isn't going back to Ukraine and the people don't want to go back. America has a knack for getting on the wrong side of things and it's done it again.
