More About Barking

There has been a bit of editing of "What Would Dogs Do" in parts you have already seen.  It's appropriate to use the Quadrangle or the National Mall to refer to the large green space in Washington but it's more commonly known by the latter so I've changed it.  I've also changed references to Congress to identify the Capitol Building.  Most people don't call it that but it's more accurate.

The Capitol Building is at the eastern end of the National Mall and the White House is a short distance north midway down one side.  Also along the sides of the National Mall are many of the national museums such as the Smithsonian, the National Gallery, etc.  The National Mall is where monuments such as the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, etc can be found.

Even if you're not one of the brain-choked jingoists so common today, Washington is a fascinating place to visit and if I had kids I would be more inclined to take them there than to Disney World although I suspect I would be outvoted by the children.

The National Gallery is an extraordinary museum and it doesn't simply feature endless portraits of Chairman Mao or anything of that nature.  In fact it featured one of the best shows of impressionist art I ever saw.  I took my wife to see it and there was such an incredible array of masterpieces that she burst into tears at the beauty of it the moment we walked into the first gallery.
