Singularity Viewer provides an alternative to Firestorm for Second Life and I tried it today because there were problems with Firestorm audio last night. The recommendation came via Cat from Untolerable Bohemian and Deception Digital, both of whom play at her MusikCircus.
Singularity resembles Phoenix quite a bit and there's no significant need to change anything you do in going from one to the other. The difference is that Singularity is actively supported. You can get free downloads of Singularity Software for Apple, Windows, and Linux at Singularity Viewer.
Cat was trying out Singularity at the same time I was and both of us were very surprised at how easy it was to slip into it, how well it functioned, and it resolved problems. I had no trouble with audio and Cat discovered she could see all of her inventory, something that doesn't work well at all for her in Firestorm.
Singularity looks like my browser solution for the indefinite future and very likely it will be for Cat as well.
