America's tinniest patriots make a big deal out of Colin Kaepernick sitting through a recording of the National Anthem but the big deal is that it wasn't a big deal since they do this cowardly patriot shaming all the time. They know if they get with the herd and start hooting, they will always get an audience so shame they must, particularly when bereft of any other vestige of morality.
1967: one of their most blazing failures was in the way they tried to crucify Muhammad Ali who refused to fight in the military and was stripped of his title plus sentenced to five years in prison. He accepted the punishment and stood proudly for peace throughout thereby creating forever a shining example of resistance to a tyrannical regime. Years later, the same tin patriots were calling Muhammad Ali by another name, The Champ. (History: Muhammad Ali refuses Army induction)
1968: two more athletes, (Tommie Smith and Juan Carlos) again provided the example which became a world-wide symbol of rejection of a tyrannical state as each raised a black-gloved fist when the National Anthem was being played. Just as with Muhammad Ali, they were flogged by the tin patriots and, just as with Muhammad Ali, the excoriation was a complete failure. (WIKI: 1968 Olympics Black Power salute)
The courage of those who stand for freedom without any weapon for defense is always greater than the herd which tries to railroad them into obedience and subservience. No free man will ever submit to it and, with the guidance of these shining examples, no free man ever will. (Common Dreams: What Athletes Should Stand For)
Colin Kaepernick has just committed a million dollars toward supporting lower-income communities. What do you suppose the tin patriots did for America today, other than take whatever they can from it.
