There was a parade of sirens and finally that provoked enough interest to hit the wtf level and, what do you know, the air was filled with smoke outside. The pic is from some minutes after the firefighters arrived and they had already contained the problem. It took a while because I couldn't find the damn camera.
The interest part was great concern at the top because a team of guys has worked so hard rehabbing that house and they have gutted it to fix it top to bottom. They don't live in the place yet because it's not quite complete but they have done a fine job so far and it would be such a damn shame if it burned.
It was resolved quickly as there was some kind of trash fire in the back of the yard. I'm sure no-one has any idea how that happened since no-one was in that house at the time and I don't think anyone had been there all day.
What you're seeing is the Hispanic gentrification of Fort Worth. For the white flight, they will dash out to suburbia to buy a McMansion for three hundred grand to add yet another layer of sameness to a place which is almost entirely nondescript anyway. For the house across the street and the one next door, similar extensive rehab efforts have taken place and they have jacked the value of the houses at least eighty grand.
Now the ones next door live in the house and on weekends sometimes they play Latin guitar on the back porch. They're steadily lifting a neighborhood which came about at the turn of the last century and these were prestige homes at that time. Over that century they started declining but there's a marked turnaround now and it's a pleasure to see.
